Q: I want to start a position in the consumers sector and was hoping you might be able to suggest a few that have maybe been excessively beaten down by the market.

Q: My father (89 years old) has sold his home and moving into an "over 55" facility near me. He lives on social security, plus some distributions from some prior investments (currently worth about $70,000). That covered all his expenses (his home was mortgage free).



He has just sold his home, and will have about $100,000 in proceeds at closing from the sale. When I asked own investment adviser what my dad should do with the 100,000, he was reluctant to offer more than "put it in the bank". My dad will need to withdraw from these funds monthly, probably a few hundred $ per month to meet anticipated expenses.

At the age of 89, seems the SEC takes a critical look at advisers investing money for people of that age. I should add my father is in very good health, given he is 89.



So, keeping my dad's money in an interest bearing account is unappealing to him, (and me, tho I understand that may be the wise choice). He is keen to invest it somehow, but is less than a novice in that area.





My main questions are these:



Should his money be invested at all? Should it sit in a savings account in a bank?



Or, in spite of his age, would the risk of owning a solid dividend paying stock(s) be worth the extra income?

Would you please help by offering insight to dealing with investor psychology and behaviour; 50% gain in PHM only to now be in the red on this holding?
My current thinking does not make sense to me to hold at the top of a gain only to feel like getting out now that the stock price has declined to the point that it feels like a poor investment decision.
I have been drawn into more aggressive type investments being connected to this subscription (beyond normal style) so I believe I can benefit from your experience and comments about dealing with volatility of the nature in this question.

Q: Hey guys, novice question here, : looks like cos is trading above the take over price that Su has offerd (8.77 being the takeover price) - did I get something wrong? Does this have to do with the fact its a share deal, and as su shares climb, so do the value of COS? Thanks for clarifying.

Q: I have owned BNK and PGF for a long time and they have done nothing but lose value. I realize most oil companies won't recover until the price strengthens but I'm wondering if these two will survive and actually rise when or if the commodity price goes up. Is so, they could be good candidates to double easily from here if they are stable companies.

Q: i have been noticing a fairly large uptick in volume on knight over the last few days or weeks,normally it trades around 100k a day, but lately much more, maybe your bloomberg terminal give you more info than i can see.
also healthcare stocks across the board are selling off, concordia, knight, phm and even large biotechs in u.s. is this all because of hilary and u.s. election or something else. dave

Q: Haven't read aything on this company for a while. I am considering taking a position in a food company and am thinking of PBH but wanted to first get your opinion on how it compares to MTY. I like the dividend from PBH but was wondering if the growth profile matches or exceeds MTY.

Q: Hello team. CSU appears to be in a downward trend for the last 5 days. Is this because shareholders want to lock in gains in a down market to balance their losses or is this a rotation out of thecnology stocks and into oil and resources. I note that ESL, DSG are also behaving similarly. I am a long term investor and want to better understand what are the drivers pulling these well performing companies in a downdraft. If there is a particular concern in the technology sector what might this be and what should one expect. Aside from this other recently well performing stocks such as Stella Jones and CCL Industries are on a downtrend and if these are lumped together with the other stocks mentioned above appear to all be selling off. What can you share with us and how would interpret my observations.

Q: Thoughts on CXR looking very attractively priced at the moment? They've got enough international exposure to their business that any action in the US to lower drug prices (which would likely take a new government and years to pass legislation) would not have a significant impact on CXR's business. Clinton's new video against Valeant and people panicking and selling CXR seem to be providing a great entry point.

Q: Would you please provide comments on EFN and CXR, specifically your opinion on why the stock prices keep falling? Thank you.
