Q: I am down huge on BNP (have a 1.5% position after the rough ride the last few years). Sector weightings aside, would you suggest buying BNP or PPY right now or would you avoid natural gas focused companies completely? Thanks!

Q: Having a hard time understanding why Brookfield management remains inactive relative to this truly horrible closed end fund it launched at $10. The value has subsequently drifted down in terms of price and net asset value to the $5 range. Incredibly, the same manager has remained in place since the outset. Very little change in their published holdings although AGF was finally disposed of after substantial capital loss. I bought this partly because of the Brookfield sponsorship. It seems this was totally misguided. In your opinion is there any hope for a restructuring or corporate intervention of some kind. Despite the original 6% yield, now 8%, what would you do with it.

Could you please suggest several very stable Canadian dividend stocks with dividends in the 4% to 5.5% range, with growing dividends and some possible capital appreciation that are "as safe as the banks" but NOT in the Financials, Pipelines, Utilities, or Telco sectors as we are already overweight in these sectors. You may be hard pressed to find much as I cannot, so I would appreciate your thoughts

Q: Reported strong 3rd q results. Yesterday's close of 35 cents is same as private placement in March 2015. The revenue growth is nice. Making a little money. It still seems cheap even at 40 cents a share. Its not a pure play software company but interesting.

Q: What do you think of this company ? Would it be an A,B,C on your scale?

"Alimentation Couche-Tard Inc.’s share price has soared 60 per cent in the last year thanks to factors such as falling gasoline prices, a rising U.S. dollar, low interest rates and access to credit. But how long can the highs last?

“Seven years ago, a reverse scenario prevailed and we couldn’t convince enough investors to buy the stock,” David Hartley of Credit Suisse said in a note to clients on Monday. “Could we be at reverse point of inflection now?”

Also, just how important to ATD's profitability are gas margins compared to the rest of the business?

Q: I've been sitting on some cash in my NR lately and would like to pick up some new companies, presently, I am holding CSU, BNS, SYZ, FSZ, BEP and SJ. (equal weights + or -). I'm looking at AYA, ENB, ET,STN,DH,SLF,CPD and SPB. I'd prefer to buy something on sale with a dividend but primarily, I only want to hold high quality companies. Proportionally, I should be able to pick up approx. 4 new positions. Thanks

Q: All the technical analysis I have seen lately on NXPI has been bearish yet it is suddenly up 7% today. Any idea why that is?

Q: Your opinion of IWG Technologies please? They just released FYE2015 with record sales and profits. It’s their 13th consecutive profitable quarter. 5 year highs on the weekly chart means limited overhead resistance from past shareholders wanting to exit. Can you envision a long run way (pun intended) and can you tell me the real time position size Pender has in this company? I fully realize the risks of owning nanocaps ($13M mc). Thank you.

Canadian Utilities(CU) has been weak recently. Is this due to its exposure to the current Alberta Government policies? Do you still think it is a solid company that is worth holding for income and growth?

Q: I have been following WP Glimcher since it got a positive mention in Barron's. My main concern is their high level of debt. Your thoughts would be welcomed.

Q: I sold Capital Power for a loss earlier in fall, with the plan of buying it back - never did - whew! Now I am looking at Emera or Fortis, to keep my utility weighting. Do you have a preference, and why? I am more interested in dividend sustainability/dividend growth than capital gains. If you have a better idea, or would just stay away from utilities for now, please comment.
