Q: Hi team,

I don't see any questions on this company Cardiol Therapeutics Inc. (CRDL) that did a recent IPO on TSX and hit a 52 week high today. It seems they are in a (speculative) cannabinoid arena with some drugs coming into phase 1 stages in 2019.
What is management history (CEO, CFO, etc.), board of directors, ...ie are they a solid team?
They had a string of announcements (LOI's, exclusive agreements, etc) in 2017 but no real follow-up news in 2018 wrt these signings.
Does their product pipeline seem promising?
How might it compare to Cannimed wrt therapeutic applications?

Is it a company to just watch for now given it's very recent IPO? So many IPO's flop in the first 6 months thus the caution.

Appreciate your insight!

Cheers,
SteveMc

Q: I have been reluctant to invest in the cannabis industry as there did not seem to be much understanding of the industry as a whole or little (if any) rhyme or reason as to valuations. While acknowledging that things are still far from stable, I do sense that a greater understanding of the industry is developing since legalization in Canada occurred. I am now seeing some thoughtful reports on potential annual demand, analyses of corporate cost structures, critical discussion of common industry issues and a separation of the better companies from the laggards

Would you agree with this assessment? If so, do you feel that enough solid fundamentals and information are now in place to warrant investing in this ETF?
It is up over 50% in the past month so are we witnessing irrational exuberance and a probable bubble or reasonable expectations based on real growth prospects?

Appreciate your insight.

Q: My question is on the US pot producers who trade on the CSE. I have seen earnings projections for 2019 and 2020 that seem quite reasonable (as low as 4x EV/ebitda) for growth stocks and much lower than their Canadian peers. Some are already ebitda positive. Also this market would appear to be much larger than the Canadian market even without complete recreational legalization. I would love to hear your opinion on the US market for pot and these producers in particular.(cura, Harv, CL).
I realize this is not your favourite sector and these stocks perhaps do not screen on your universe of stocks.
Your thoughts would be greatly appreciated.

Q: Hello Team,

Is their an American tobaco ETF that covers these 3 stocks that are mentioned in your
5i Research report on the Marijuana Industry? ( Fantastic read).
Plus, all things considered between the 3, which individual stock is the most likely in your opinion to get involved in the Industry?

Thanks,
Stephen

Q: when i started investing 40 years ago i remember watching a young mario gabelli who was everywhere saying NEVER FIGHT THE TAPE.
i bring this up in relation to the marijuana stocks, when all this started i agreed with you, but about 3 months ago i stopped fighting the tape and joined the party and i have made a huge killing but also my year, i am mostly out now, so my question is you constantly talk about momentum, new highs etc etc but you never participated, imagine what mj could have done to your portfolios, why. dave

Q: Hello 5I team
Would it be a good idea to short HMMJ or a Canadian Healthcare ETF? How much of the Canadian health care sector is Marijuana. Would there be a catalyst or a cue you use to determine when and if this is a good idea? Also how might you structure such a call? I have not shorted any equity so I am rather green on this. Also I am looking forward to the Moneyshow. Thanks for all the work you do to make this event a success and all the endless questions here. Jeremy

Q: I would like to get your overall long term opinion on pot stocks like weed that are increasing in price mostly because of larger companies what to get in in on the action. It seems like pot will be in many things including beer.Do you believe that once October comes and maybe the sales are not there to support the stock price that this could be the next stock market bubble with huge losses?

Q: Good day,

I currently own the subject shares in my TFSA portfolio. Are these stocks still worth hanging onto with the current volatility? I was considering selling everything and going with Vanguard or iShares.

Q: Hello I am looking for your general thoughts on the growing MJ industry. I had purchased the HMMJ etf at the start of it's trading debut and once I had doubled+ I sold off enough to cover my initial investment. I am now playing with the house's money so to speak. With a date set for legalization I think these companies will start to have more pressure to perform and make money. If this is the case do you think a serious drop in stock valuation will happen if and when these companies don't make expectations? If you were in my situation would you sell and look to put the profit to work elsewhere? If yes then any suggestions? Please assume I am well balanced in all accounts. Deduct as many question credits as you see fit. Thanks

Q: Hi Peter,
Any idea why BTL group is surging so much this week given that a week ago it was in the dumps? Is this still very speculative play? Why is Covalon continuing to experience declines? Also, with Cannibis stocks taking a hit (not clear why) would be a good time to add to HMMJ with Canopy Growth being one of the largest holdings or is it better to just put the money in Canopy Growth given its relationship with Constellation Brands? Thanks very much.
