Q: I see MAXR is up about 9% today as I write this email. There doesn’t seem to be any explanation for this rise from my admittedly limited news sources. Do you know of any reason for the bump? Bye-the-way when do they report?
Thank you,
Jim
Q: Good day...I have great respect for your management of the balanced portfolio..my question is the addition of tsgi at a 4% position...this seems out of the ordinary for the way you run this portfolio...generally I have noticed that you start with a 2% position and then allow it to grow...I know you have a valid reason and I am asking to advance my knowledge of trading...thanks for your expert management....Gene
Q: I think looking at chart at $ 16.00 SIS is a buy. When do they report next eps. I see ACORN ads on TV . Same product Chair Lift. I believe Acorn is a UK Company. Your thoughts pleas. RAK
Q: Looking 5 years out, which of these two stocks do you think have the best potential for growth in both share price and dividend?
I am thinking of switching from ECN to PLC after reading your new report on PLC.
Q: I understand the logic of "getting paid while you wait" but in this particular instance, what am I waiting for? I am now off 30%. Do you actually see this one recovering or is negative momentum going to take it down.
Q: Hi Peter/Ryan
I owned Park Lawn for about a year and did quite well on it before selling. Interested in getting back into it. One reason I got out was bad memories of the Loewen ( https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Raymond_Loewen ) group which I am sure you remember. I assume Park Lawn is more conservative with dept? Obviously Service Corporation is much bigger but in terms of valuation how do they compare?
Q: Stantec continues to show little growth as it has over the past five years. At 1.63% it also has a meager dividend. It compares poorly to WSP over five years. Is it that WSP has better management, better mix of business, better geographical locations or some other factors? Since WSP has dropped somewhat recently, would you recommend a switch from STN to WSP at this stage or stay the course with STN? Thank you.
Q: Hi 5i! This question is for an educational purposes, as I'm always trying to better my humble valuation skills. Unfortunately, I can't find the quote in the question to confirm my saying but here goes anyway: You have recently (I'm pretty sure!?!) qualified the shares of TSGI as being cheap. On what metrics do you base your evaluation. I see that a PE of 18ish for a growth stock like TSGI is on the cheap side. Are there any other metrics?
Many thanks!
PS.: I already own a full position in TSGI that I bought a couple of years ago. No intention to buy more or sell any time soon.
Q: SIS is up some 5% over a year,but down 12% ytd.Have 4% position @ $17.28 p/p.Is this a good time to add some--up to 5% or more.Thanks for U usual great services & views
Q: Regarding NFI, in your view how much of a concern does high US and Canadian federal/state/province/municipal government debt represent, in terms of governments' future ability/inability to replace/upgrade buses at a prudent pace?
Thank you.
Q: Hi, Sylogist stock is trading near its all time high, after Cormark's coverage. I am aware that a few months ago 5i sold the stock in Balanced Portfolio. However, we kept our core holding and are quite happy with it. We started a family memeber's portfolio (LIRA) recently with some cash and have invetsed in PBH, TSGI, KXS,SIS,SJ and TCL.a. Still waiting for an opportunity for CSU and BYD.un. What do you think of SYZ at current prices to be added ? Thanks
Q: Today's drop in Cineplex suggests that the market was underwhelmed by the increased business with Cinemark in the US reported yesterday. Have you any idea why this would be so? It seems to me to add to their attempt at further diversification in the entertainment business.
