Q: Good Morning: I notice that Laurentian bank is advertising a hi-yield saving acct. with a 3.3% rate. This seems unsustainable in the current environment. Their ad does not say anything about a limited term for this rate but does of course warn that rates can change without notice. Any comments?

Q: I am struggling with the fact that my entire portfolio is in stocks - although 50% bluechip. Can you recommend stocks that will ride out a recession nicely or other investment avenues?

Also, in terms of value or growth who do you like right now.

Q: Goodmorning
I currently own this preferred share MFC.PR.M and have found further information on Manulifes website - https://www.manulife.com/en/media/manulife-announces-dividend-rates-class-1-shares-series-17-18.html
Would you suggest holding the current series or converting to the new series?

Q: I recently sold. AEM and waiting for a pul back. I was thinking of buying DGC gold just in case if there will be another offer. If no offer I would end up with KL gold or would you suggest just buy KL directly at today’s price. Can you please me your opinion and when is the deal supposed to close and if I buy 1000 shares of DGC gold how many KL shares I would get. Do you think current offer is good or they might be another offer. Is there any regularity risk.

Currently I don’t have any gold stocks

Thanks for your great service

Q: Hi folks
I sold SIS at a loss in my non registered account. However I also own it in my TFSA and my RRIF at a gain. Does this make my loss null and void? I may buy it back in my non registered in 30 days. Also you had mentioned that you would like to see SIS break at $14.15... But is it good to buy now (if I decide to add to my TFSA holding).? Or would that also break the 30 day rule?
Thank you again for a good year.

Q: I see that for NTR and HR.UN the RSI is entering oversold territory. What importance do you place in the RSI for a company when considering a buy or sell? I am considering buying these two companies at these levels, would you recommend a purchase now? I am surprised at the sinking stock price of HR.UN compared to other REITs, do you see a particular reason for this? Thank you for your great work.

Q: Thank you for your response to my question 22 November. I am attempting to diversify my portfolio internationally and so I am looking for Canadian listed companies that have a significant part of their business outside of Canada. The four that you listed are very good candidates and I do own CCL.B, WSP and ATD.B. I was wondering if there is a way to find other companies with similar international characteristics. Thank you.
