Q: I need to trim my energy positions by one, I currently hold PKI, RRX, and SPB. I like the dividends from PKI and SPB and am holding long term. Like most investors I like income with growth, which of the three should I sell?

Q: Trimming the herd to pay off the mortgage. Any compelling reason not to sell the above names. I have a few others on the maybe trim list if you make a compelling case to keep any of the above. Balanced growth follower.

I am heavy financial ( thus ditching rbc and mfc), wjx is one of my dogs ( offsets some of my gain on financials) and rus- tpk -wpm have gone sideways so no gain-loss on them. Gets me out pretty cap gain neutral and cleans out a bit of dead weight not in your balanced portfolio

Q: Hi, I would like to increase my exposure to materials companies as I think they will over perform the market in the next 12 months. Could you please rank the following in each category as to your expectations for capital gains?
1. Silver: FR, USA, SSRM, PAAS, SIL
2. Gold: BTO, KL, GUY, WPM, WDO

Q: Hi folks. New Flyer is a position I took last November and as a result I am down significantly. That said, I have been reading your responses to questions asked in which you stated in part; "we would not view NFI as an outright sell at this time. " This statement could indicate that it maybe a sell and you are not sure yet? Also I am wondering if the course issuer bid NFI announced on 11 June maybe in response to or in anticipation of, a further decline in the stock price?

Q: 5i has had a bit of criticism recently regarding the income portfolio performance. Obviously 5i does not need me to “rebut” this. However it is worth pointing out that 2 other respected advisors (John Heinzl and Gordon Pape) have outlined their own concerns recently with the performance of their income portfolios and have made some adjustments.

I also have a couple of cynics sceptical of my “wisdom” in sticking with an “income” focus. I wish to educate them by sharing some long term data with them regarding share prices and dividend growth. Companies like Enbridge .... a signifcant casualty in my portfolio comes to mind. Where can I go to find historical data on stocks - ideally going back as far as 1990?

I have held BTE and CPG for many years now and they are both down over 80%. Do you see any chance in a recovery to 2011 levels or would you cut your losses and sell? I have positions in each of my rrsp and non -registered accounts.

Q: Hello. Could you please explain why ZCL has issued a special dividend of 0.40, as throughout 2017, the regular dividend had been 0.12. Looking at the progressive stock price decline -- since a high of ~$15 in Apr 2017 -- it hasn't been a particularly rewarding year for the company -- having dropped ~60% in stock price. Thanks!

Q: I have about 7 years before i will need to withdraw and money from my RSP's. With $100K to invest how much would you recommend to put in each of the above managed ETF's. Just want to invest and not look at them until the 7 years are up. I am open to other suggestions?

Q: Just an addition to your answer to Saeed question this morning. Although there is a US withholding tax on dividends from US stocks, in most cases this is claimed against payable Canadian taxes, using a complex formula of the ratio of US income and Canadian Income.

Q: Hi 5i, my portfolio is marching along nicely thanks to your advice. I am questioning holding onto NFI. I am on par and have owned it for about 8 months. Because of exposure to tariffs, I'm wondering if it will stagnate and if a switch to PBH, one of your stock recommendations that I do not yet hold, might have more growth possibility in the coming year(s).
