I am looking for "relative" safety with some upside and yield. I noticed these two currently look attractive. Your thoughts/alternate suggestions please.

Q: What two REITS would you think would be a good replacement for CHP.UN. I hold HR.un as my other REIT exposure and only have a 5% weighting to this sector with the potential to raise it to 10% in the future.
Q: I have a question about 1249
The CEO is buying his own stock and debentures big time. Could he take this private down the road. With him putting so much money in his stock, many we should too. The dividend is safe I believe
, you agree ?
Thanks.

Q: Hi 5i,
I have a full position with SRU.UN in my income portfolio.
I'm planning on selling half and buying another reit for more diversification. Could you provide a reit suggestion that would work with SRU.UN?
Or 2 reits suggestions and sell SRU.UN?
Thanks Steve

Vanguard FTSE Canadian Capped REIT Index ETF (VRE $30.80)
Q: Hi - I have no REIT exposure and am considering adding either VRE or XRE. They are both promoted as tracking the TSX/S&P capped REIT index. When I overlay a graph of their 2 year price performance sure enough they are virtually identical. At first glance it would seem a no brainer to go with VRE since the MER is 1/2 that of XRE (.35% vs. 61%). However, it also appears XRE pays a substantially higher dividend ( ~ 4.7% vs. ~ 3% depending on the source I check). Can you shed any light on why the difference in the dividend when they are both tracking the same index? Do you have a preference for one over the other? Thank You
Q: What are your thoughts on NXR as a hold for the next 2 - 3 years.

Q: Good morning 5i, I see CAR hit the market at $45.50 and I am in at $47. My question is how likely is that to cap the price and for how long. I am sick of watching losers so I am inclined to sell and replace it with a reit/other with better short-term potential. We rely on income from our investment so be it interest or growth it is all the same. What would be your top picks right now with short-term capital recovery in mind. I am becoming increasingly negative on buy and hold. Damn that Black Swan...wish he would move on to another victim.
thanks for your input,
Bob

Q: I currently don't have any REITs in my income portfolio but am now considering adding a couple. I was considering the above 4 but really want to add only 2 names. Which would you consider or would you suggest something else? Looking for reasonable income with an eye on preserving capital during rising interest rates.
