Q: Always great to see you on BNN Peter. It always peaks my interest when you select a top pick that is not in any one of your model portfolios. Can you explain a bit your rationale for selecting Boyd Group Income Fund as a top pick and why it doesn’t have a place in any of the model portfolios. Thanks.

Q: Good Day 5i
First of all I just wanted to commend Peter on another informative appearance on BNN. As testament to your following your top picks of PHO and GUD shot up the instant you mentioned them on air.
My question is would you please comment on the latest quarter of CXI? Is there evidence that their efforts are now finally gaining traction and would you recommend that I continue to hold. I was contemplating a switch back into BYD.UN as I had sold out of my position way too early and of course noted it was one of your top picks today.

Q: I am a conservative, retired, dividend-income investor with the above stocks and ETFs. I also own RBC Cdn Equity Income, Sentry Cdn Income, Sentry REIT, Sprott Energy, Fisgard Capital, Insured Annuities, and receive CPP and a company pension.
I have roughly 5% cash and am normally a buy and hold investor. I am looking to top up the following sectors = Financials, Industrials and Materials. I am already max'd out on the other sectors. Can you please provide me with 3 suggestions of dividend payers (3+% dividend), that would fit with my current holdings, for each of the 3 sectors?
Thanks for your help,
Steve

Q: Hello!
Canopy Growth Corp:
I have read your recent report regarding Cannabis industry which was very encouraging as far as the future if the industry with few reservations namely revenue ramp up period and emergimg market risks. I hold a significant position in Canopy Growth and was wandering about whether the stock has actually bottomed in your opinion, especially given todays sharp drop?
Teck:
What is your opinion on a long position in Teck? The company appears to be trading at a discount.
Apple:
I also hold a significant position in Apple. What are your thoughts in the companys sustainability as far as earnings growth in the next while with addition of the iHome speaker and iPhone 8 release. I am prepared to keep holding onto it. Is this a good strategy in your opinion?
Thanks in advance!
Irek

Q: re: Question from js (relation between LITE and VIAVI share prices)
About 2 years ago, JDS Uniphase split into two: LITE (the spin-off) and VIAVI (the renamed "rump" of JDSU). VIAVI still owns a considerable number of shares of LITE, and so its balance sheet is directly correlated to the LITE share price.

Q: Could you please give me your opinions on USCO US Cobalt (formerly Scientific Metals Corp) on the venture exchange? Thank you
Q: Re DNA, it is an Irish gold company that has found significant amounts of gold in its recent drillings - do you have an opinion of this company. Ted
Q: Can you please comment on LITE. I realize it is US company. Stock has been strong the past while and I don't see direct explanation for it. As well, it seems to move in tandem with VIAVI. Any insight would be appreciated. thank you
Q: Please provide your comments on Dollarama's quarterly report.
Thank you, Peter

Q: Hi, could you please suggest one of these,or another you might like better, for income mostly and of course some upside. Do they use ROC to pay part of the dividend? This would be a full position 5%. Management,LowDebt,Good Sector, and capital preservation is most important.
Thanks
Thanks
Q: With the government raising the percentage that a single entity can hold
in CNR from 15% to 25%, can you see if Bill Gates &/or his Foundation have
increased their ownership in CNR?

Q: I am looking at buying either ALA or ALA.r in my RRSP.
I have read your analysis on this matter and am not sure I follow it all. The receipts were issued at $31.00 and are redeemable at $31.00 should the deal not go through. They now trade at $ 29.65. If I buy the receipts ,I will collect the " dividend equivalent ". If the deals goes through ( which I think is likely), I will receive new shares.
It seems a "no brainer" to buy the receipts as you have a capital gain if the deal does not go through. The receipts seems to track the stock which seem to offer a buying opportunity.
What do you think? Thanks
Derek

Q: Comments on the cxi earnings released today
Q: CCL.B Just had their split; my brokerage account shows the new share price of CCL.B, but does not show the new number of shares owned to reflect the split. Is this typical, or is there some action I need to take? Thank you.

Q: Is there a etf with the major communication stocks in it,Bce,Rogers etc ?
Q: Do you have estimated numbers for returns (1-3-5 yr) on your etf model portfolio? Or even better would be calendar year returns back as far as you can go. Much like you have on the equity portfolios.
Looking to have a chat with my advisor about his fees and these numbers would help as me adopting your portfolio is what he needs to beat net of fees. It would be his new benchmark if your returns have been good!

Q: Peter always good to see you on BNN. You mentioned Altagas' dividend being fine as it would be based on cash flow ( please correct me if I'm misquoting) and therefore a decent investment.
Could you respond to this article about Altagas and the author's points?
