XTC just released its Q4 and annual results, everything seems to be in good order. I can use the keener eyes of professionals like yourself for a more informed opinion. Kindly critique the past results, and more importantly the prospect of this company going forward.

Q: Just a note concerning Marios’ question about converting TD shares into US dollars. I am also with TD and their Buy/Sell spread for US dollars is about 1.5%. So in the end if you convert Cad dollars to purchase a US stock and then go back to Cad dollars when you sell the foreign currency exchange alone will set you back 3%. I consider this extortion! I typically use “Norbert’s gambit” with shares of the biggest Canadian bank (RY) to avoid these foreign conversion fees. One of the problems however, is that when purchasing shares in my Canadian account, TD makes me wait 3 days for the settlement until they can be moved over to my US account for sale there. Hence you end up with 3 days holding risk and price movements can either work for you or against you. I would appreciate if you could open this up to members to see if anyone has ever found a way to get around the 3 day holding period.

Q: Based on companies in the Growth Portfolio alone, which is your strongest buy today? I just topped up my TFSA and was having some hesitation purchasing EFN, not quite understanding why it continues to slide. Thanks.

Q: I own a Sherritt 8% bond maturing Nov. 15, 2017. Am I likely to get my principal back? Should I just sell for what it's worth today? This company looks to be in a lot of trouble and I'm worried.

Thanks to 5i, my gains in BYD.UN are substantial, and I was thinking about some tax loss selling to lessen my tax bill.

The stocks that I hold in my margin account that are down are:
WCP (-26%)
BOS (-15%)
BIN (-14%)
TMA (-12%)

Which of these (if any) would you suggest for tax loss selling purposes, and which (if any) would you buy back after 30 days? I am considering deploying the proceeds from the sale into a money market ETF for the 30 days, but perhaps there is a better approach.

I realize that any selling decision should be driven by investment considerations, but I've never done any tax loss selling and want to "do it right".

Since this is a rather long question, please feel free to use more than one question credit. As always, thanks for your valuable advice.

Q: Hi ...can you comment on the current apparent disconnect between the AIG stock price and the company's warrants . The stock is currently trading close to it's year high ...yet the warrants are off over 4$ . Seems too rapid in terms of time erosion on these warrants as they don't expire till 2021 ....lots of time left .. they trade over 29$ in August . ...an opportunity?

Q: I had bought shares of Questor(QST) recently and sold them this Monday because of their 3rd quarter numbers.Today they increased from $0.60 to $0.77.Kind of the story of my life but could you help me understand.

Q: The proof's in the pudding. Canadian Business magazine in the most recent issue named CEO Bruce Flatt #94 wealthiest Canadian and director Jack Cockwell #98. These guys are there because they have over 90% of their assets in BAM stock. Other directors and officers including Blidner and Lawson have lots of skin in the game too.
My hunch is Flatt (he's only 50 y.o.) and company will be moving up the ranks in years to come, and my money's with them. The Seeking Alpha article is fluff to put it politely.
