Q: Good Morning 5i

Please provide your views on whether this is an opportunity to add based on information currently out there concerning a move to take the company private. If so, do you have any price range in mind as to where the price will go short term. I know this is a lot to ask but am looking for your opinion prior to considering increasing my position.

Q: Can I get your thought on Aeg, I know that value investors have had this as a top pick many times but the stock keeps going down. Also according to Yahoo finance the book value for this company is around $14, how can a stock with a book value of $14 trade at around $5

Q: Good Morning Peter, Ryan, and Team,
I have been looking at ESL, CSU, SYZ, and OTC and comparing them using the metric "Free Cash Flow Yield" (Trailing 4 quarters of operating cash flow, minus capex, divided by shares outstanding, divided by yesterday's share price) According to my very crude calculations ESL = 9%, CSU = 8.7 %, SYZ = 9%, and OTC = 14 %. OTC in particular looks to be getting pretty cheap. Is this a good way to look at these types of companies and what other metrics do you use in your analysis of info tech businesses ?? Q: Financials constitute 21.2% of my portfolio. I would like to reduce that by selling off some these; AD 12.57%,SCB 3.79%, EFN 16.17%, FIE 33.75%, FSZ 4.92%,GS 11.35%, HCG 17.45%. Which would you sell? Would you consider buying Tricon with any proceeds? GS dropped considerably in the last few months. Do you know why?

Q: Let's revisit Shopify. It's trading below the IPO price from last year, but it seems like a great cloud-based software that keeps growing and is "sticky". What is your opinion on this company and when will they be able to stand on their own feet (i.e. profitable)?

Q: Fortis buys ITC. How does the currency work? If it's Canadian dollars it seems to me that the risk is great if the Canadian dollar goes to par in a year. I am somewhat confused on that basis albeit I like the idea of Canadian companies buying foreign companies. Perhaps you can give us your take on the currency implications.

Q: Hi 5i: My utilities sector is a bit under-weight at the moment, and I'm considering the addition of RNW. The dividend is high, but its parent does not inspire confidence. However, I have heard some analysts recommend it and suggest that the dividend is safe. I would appreciate your comments - I assume that it would not provide much growth. Any alternatives suggestions would also be welcome (I have AQN already, along with FTS and pipes in another portfolio). Many thanks.

Q: Hello Peter, regarding model portfolio. 1. If starting new portfolio would you recommend buying in equal weights 5% each or as per weights / allocation currently.
2. If already has the portfolio, would you suggest putting new money in most fallen like WCP SJ ESL etc or since you are keeping unusually high cash . Would you suggest staying on sideline for now. Keep up good work. Thanks

Q: Most if not all of the convertible bonds offering I have seen, the conversion price is at a premium to the trading price of the stock. This one is somehow unique. Can you please explain why? If I am holding the shares in a registered account wouldn't be better to hold the convertible instead (more secure and higher distribution at least for now)? Would this situation encourage arbitrage, buying the convertible and selling the stock short driving the stock price down? Do you expect that this bond to sell at a premium to the stock as soon as it hits the market?

Could you please comment on the Algonquin Power takeover of Empire Electric in Missouri. The deal looks very interesting to me. Algonquin are simultaneously offering 5.00% Convertible Debentures - Instalment Receipts. The Conversion price is $10.60 well below the closing price of the shares yesterday $11.54.
Could you answer these questions for me and comment on the Company and on the Debenture issue.

1. It seems very surprising to have the conversion price LESS than the market price. Why?
2. Would you prefer the Debentures or the Common shares for steady income.
3. Will the common shares trade down to the conversion price on open Feb 10th?
