Q: Good Day,
I see today that CEO and co-founder Lorenzo Donadeo has decided to retire on March 1,2016 as CEO and become chairman of the Board. Any thoughts? The share price is up today so the market doesn't seem to be concerned with this news. Obviously he won't be running the show day to day but as Chairman of the Board will be instrumental in guiding the company.
Thank-you
Q: Hi, shouldn't all of the insider buying be a very positive sign for sylogist? The stock has been struck in a narrow trading range for a while now, and close to a fifty-two week low, iam confused, thanks
Q: I have read lately that Sobey were having difficulty integrating the Western acquisitions putting the share price under pressure. Seems to me that this deal was accretive from day one. Can you comment both from a short term and long term perspective. Thank You
Q: Q3 numbers out today look really good to me. Projecting the company's Q2 numbers (which include royalty dollars) to q4 would give them 0.11/share earnings vs the 0.70 share price today... I realize this stock is tiny but I have a high risk tolerance. Do you think this is a good name to add?
I plan to initiate a position in EFN. Looking at selling one of ALA, PPL or KEY to raise cash and diversify. Which one would you suggest that I sell and why? Or is it a wash between them?
Q: Hello, Do you think CCL is a buy at these meteoric levels. I have a half position and would like to top up. I am also considering WPK and I dont have any position in WPK. I also want to top up on BEP..any reason why this has fallen? Also can you suggest any US stock to buy and forget for the next 20 years or so..Cheers, Shyam
Q: The volume for EFN spiked today to over 17 Million. Average volume is around 1.7 million. I don't see any news on this. Have you heard anything?
Thanks
Q: I have had my eye on this comp. for a while: never bought because I felt the PE was not justified; now, PE coming down, but, I still have concerns: poor ROE, high Pay-out Ratio, missed last 3 out of 4 Q results - USD strength should be helping bottom line with major acq. this year and debt. higher - probably no dividend increases for quite a while, as well.
Comments please - thank you .... JP
What do you make of the continuous share price massacre of DH?
You have stated in previous responses, based on facts and figures, the company is doing fine and yet the "manipulators" manage to keep selling the stock down with no resistance. That short report, which as expectedly was rebuked by management, seems to be ancient history now, so what gives?
Q: Another scenario that I read about if the new government wants to negate the increased TFSA limit allowed in 2015.
Current Total Limit
2009 - 2015 = $36,500
2015 increase = $ 4,500
Total = $41,000
Possible New Limit
2009 - 2016 = $42,000
So those who topped up in 2015 would be allowed only $1,000 in 2016. This would have the effect of cancelling the additional $4,500 this year.
Q: I am wondering about the timing of tax loss selling for individual investors. I know that this year it has to be done on or before Dec 24. I wonder if its best to wait until the last week so as not to get caught in the downdraft of tax loss selling of large institutional investment companies. Is there any "basic strategies" you can suggest?
I have a few I'm considering : sell PPL/buy TRP. sell AFN/ buy AGU, sell MG/buy MRE, sell CS/buy LUN (or stay away from commodities)
Appreciate your comments
Q: The MInimum Rate-Reset Preferred Shares BEP.PR.G, ALA.PR.I, BAM.PF.H, CU.PR.I seem almost to good to be true. They offer rate resets that are a 100 bps or higher than the previously issued rate reset shares of the same companies as well as a guaranteed yield of 4.5 to 5.5%. The only caveat I have been able to find is that the distribution is projected to be composed of 50% eligible Canadian dividend, 25% income and 25% return of capital (http://prefblog.com/?cat=14). How and when would the return of capital be taxed in a non registered account? Would the return of capital diminish the redemption price of the shares? What percent of a fixed income portfolio would allocate to this type of security?
Thanks David
