Q: Good Morning,

I own debentures of CUS (CV) and S. They are as follows:

CANEXUS CORPORATION SER VI CONV UNSEC SUBORD DEBS 12/31/21 6.5000

SHERRITT INTERNATIONAL CORP SENIOR UNSECURED NOTES 11/15/18 8.0000

SHERRITT INTERNATIONAL CORP SR DEB 09/24/20 7.5000

The CUS is selling around $70 and the S's are around $60. I purchased all 3 of them at issue, so am down quite significantly.

I am concerned that they will still be liquid at maturity to pay par for the bonds.

Could you determine after looking at the balance sheets if you think they should be sold right away or held till maturity?

If you owned them in your own account, what actions would you take?

Thanks

Q: I would appreciate your opinion on FIE for a balanced income portfolio. Will the capital value hold up in our current flat interest rate environment with rates gradually rising over the coming quarters? A big part of this ETF is composed of preferred shares. Will preferred re-sets do better in a rising interest environment? Many thanks!

Q: I sold this company about 18 months ago and was wondering if this might be an opportune time to buy, again. Due to its cyclical nature, anything you can tell me would be greatly appreciated.
Thanks

Q: I'm a buy and hold investor looking for energy or pipeline stocks with good dividends and eventual growth expected over the next several years. Presently I own none and want to increase it to a ten % position.

1) is it a good time or should I wait.
2) can you give me two CDN and two U.S. Choices that you think are going to be reasonably safe and good long term prospects. I've indictared some of the choices I'm interested in.

Q: Hello,
I am considering investing $5K in Guestlogix convertible bonds. They are trading at approximately 720 (per 1,000 bond). Can you let me if there is a good chance they will at least pay back at 505 or more? I know this is higher risk investment. To help you understand my risk tolerance ---I could stomach losing $2.5K but losing the whole $5K would upset me.

Q: The % of my portfolio that is correlated to oil/gas is at an all time low since the oil price meltdown. I also dumped a few hydro carbon stocks on the way down (Husky/Atlas/EnCana). I am now looking to wade back into the sector to a minor degree. Dividends are not important to me. What is important is relatively decent financial strength, lower cost reserves and good management.
What would you recommend taking a look at?

Q: Hi Guys,
I am interested in your take on AYA, PHM and SCR.
What are your thoughts on the respective companies and would you be recommending buying at the current share price levels?

Thank you for your feedback

Q: I am confused on the dividend of Corby Distilleries which is either $1.38 per year (7.3%) per BMO Investorline or $0.76 (4%) per Ford Equity Research. Appreciate your help, as always.

Q: We've seen that GUD's share price has not been significantly affected despite the market sell-off in the past couple months and the recent sell-off/scare in healthcare. GUD's significant cash position is likely playing a part in this regard acting as a safety net in its valuation.

Are there any other similar early-growth companies out there that have significant cash positions or financial strength that would not be easy targets for a market sell-off?

Q: Hi Peter and team:
This is a curiousity question. Geoff commented today about a question submitted by Sylvia on cxr. I tried to find this question and cannot. I then went to the company lookup section and when I type in crx it of course advises that their have not been any questions as yet. When I type in CXR, I as expected get the q&a's on concordia, however, when I change to Search all text
I get Concordia for both CXR and CRX. Please explain?

Thanks for your time,
Ben

Q: Hey Guys, these three are my "dogs" right now, fortunately, I have a small position in each, less than 1% of my portfolio. Would you keep all three and wait for the recovery or sell two and double down on the other one or sell all three. Time frame 3-5 years.

thanks,

jim

Q: Been a happy shareholder of Dollarama. If one looks at the chart, it's like the late-summer correction didn't even phase it.

There's always talk of increased competition from the dollar stores from the US (Family Dollar, Dollar Tree, Dollar General). Just how much of a threat is this to Dollarama's moat? And if US dollar stores are not a threat, what is their main risk?

Q: Hi Peter and Team,

I've written to you before about COS. I'm a long term shareholder of this company. I own 100K shares. Will I get a chance to vote on this deal offered by Su - and what's your take? Personally, I think it's a good fit and I think Su will be able to finally! get the syncrude project moving in a better direction (i believe that operation suffers from too many cooks in the kitchen syndrome). many thanks!
