Do news stories like this affect the stock price of either the plaintiff or the defendant?

“Quebecor Inc.-subsidiary Videotron is suing Rogers Communications Inc. for $91 million over an alleged breach of contract related to the sale of Freedom Mobile two years ago.”

We have a small holding in QBR.B and although it’s slightly down in price compared to when we bought it, it certainly is holding up better than our large holding in BCE (down almost 50%, not including dividends), but BCE is an issue for another question!

"This time is different". With King Chump flying by the seat of his pants and his band of nutbars supporting his every insane move, is this time different? The US used to have checks and balances but it appears these have all been removed, allowing King DJT to do whatever crazy thing pops into his head (or appears in his social media feed). With his history of bankruptcies I worry that he is crazy enough to 'fix' their debt problems by defaulting. I'm not sure he understands the implications of this and who would stop him?

Q: I would like 3-4 ideas for investment to be held in cash account. I don't need the money unless an emergency and was thinking of parking in a few solid pref shares perhaps to pick up a decent tax efficient yield but open to alternatives.

However I watched it today where big tech was selling off 7-8% this one ended up only -1.8% and seems to be holding up strong. Should I have patience here ? Do you see any rush to buy the name? What price would you suggest taking a position ?

Q: I bought TDB2915 a U.S. money market fund some time ago . There is 10.82 % of my portfolio in it . My sole reason for buying it was TD Waterhouse said that was the only way I could get around currency exchange when buying U.S. stocks. I recently bought a U.S. stock and they did not take the money from the account and when questioned on it informed me that they no longer did this practice. So I really have no motivation for keeping the money in this fund. Though the fund has increased in value 10% over the six or seven years I have had it. I'm not sure if this fund is earning me any money or not . Could 5i answer that question ? And more importantly with economic chaos in the U.S. is 5i more optimistic in the short term on the U.S dollar or the loonie ?

I recently read an article that Canada, the EU, and China could do some pretty serious damage to the Trump buck should they unite to sell off their U.S. treasuries ....... Would 5i counsel moving it into Canadian cash to be deployed in the future ? I'm in no mad panic to buy right now til we know what the U.S. is going to do ...... Thanks for your terrific service .....

Q: I have cash in my portfolio. I am looking for a multi asset ETF. Ideally, I would like a 1 ticket multi asset ETF that has a category / asset class of "alternatives". (ie private equity) Is this available on the TSX? Could suggest 2-3 multi asset ETFs. If these ETF do not include "alternatives", are there any ETF that specialize in "alternatives" ie private equities not tied into the market. I understand liquidity may be an issue for such an ETF. Thank you
