Q: Good Morning 5i,

Just wondering if these two stocks are still a hold or should be replaced?
Intel seems to be having problems with its 10mm process, insider trading and competition from Nvidia and AMD. As for Cisco a report last week claiming that Amazon Web Services plans to start selling network switches to other businesses and other major networking companies could impact Cisco down the road. Should we anticipate that though times are ahead for this network giant?

Thx
Marco

Q: Good morning to you and thanks for all the wonderful help and insights you give us. I enjoy the access to the members Q&A to help me with my investment decisions.

What am I missing when it comes to OSB ? Very low PE, great profit per share, excellent dividend, and yet it seems to be routinely out of favour (certainly in the past few days). Please help me understand this one, as I am wondering if it is a good time to add to it in this current dip.

Q: Hello 5i,
I would like to add a comment regarding Richard's post about his friend's LIF. My wife also had her entire LIF in RBF 461 and we finally chose to move it to RBC Direct Investing and put it all in XTR. This immediately reduced the MER significantly and increased the distribution income as well. In terms of holdings, I believe XTR is about as close as you can get to RBF 461 in one holding, although there may some others out there as well.
While making this move we also took the opportunity to tweak some other aspects of the LIF such as payout amount and frequency, withholding tax amount and added our children as Contingent Beneficiaries. While we could have done some of this without making the move, it was very easy and quick to do with the change. This, along with some recent experience as an Executor, motivated us to add our children as Contingent Beneficiaries to all of our other Direct Investing accounts that we could.
Please note, this is not meant to be a recommendation of any kind, merely a personal anecdote for what it is worth. I hope it is of some help.
Cheers,
Mike

Q: What is your opinion on CQP for a long term hold. I see a lot of analysts have a buy rating on it.

Q: I like credit cards. I hold Visa (6%) and Mastercard (5%) and I'm considering buying American Express but worry about too much concentration. It doesn't seem to move in tandem with the others, perhaps because of different models and being on different exchanges. What do you think? I have no banks, but do have a couple of insurance companies.

Q: My 20 year old son has been building a portfolio based on your balanced portfolio with the occasional growth substitution (like TV for TECK, SHOP for CLS...). He is in university and has funds to cover the next three years. His portfolio is heavy in technology (30%) as that is what he understands the most and where he is comfortable. He holds 17 positions and is missing the following: AEM, WEF, WSP, CAE, BYD, ENB, PKI WCP. He has funds to add one position today and two more in the next couple of months. Suggestions would be appreciated. Currently has only 10% materials, 10% industrial and 0% energy.

Q: I would appreciate your comments about the very old and sleepy closed-end fund United Corporations Ltd (UNC), which trades well below its NAV. In particular, how safe would UNC.PR.C be as a long-term source of steady income? I recognize that the preferreds are quite illiquid and hence one would want to hold them for the long term.
Thanks!

Q: What do you guys think about all the bond proxy stocks that have been beat up due to their high yields? Is it safe to pick away at a few, what are your favorites in the group for yield with growing dividend?
