Q: I bought shares in Annaly Capital Management NLY a few years ago when RBC seemed to be giving it the nod. The high yield was attractive and it did OK for a while, but it's down about 37% since I bought them. At current levels, they form about 3% of the value of my wife's and my registered investments. Is there any hope for an upick, or should I just sell and move on? It's depressing looking at that -35% figure in the Gains/Losses column.

Q: What do you know about sphere 3d , would you buy it. Dave
Q: Hi 5i: There seems to be no consensus on the definitions of the sectors that an investor should represent in a portfolio. I have seen lists that range from 10 to 20 such "sectors". What sector definition do you use? Also, what software system do you use to identify the sector to which a particular stock belongs? I ask the latter question because I use RBC Direct which, for example, puts IPL in the Energy sector while most other sector systems I've looked at class IPL as an utility.

Q: Hi
CLQ today came out with good news today.
Its first continuous lithium carbonate production.
Also recently an insider purchase $1,150,000.00 worth of stock.
He sure believes in the company.
Its speculative yet the risk reward looks good at current share price.
What`s your opinion?

Q: Hi Peter and team: Are you in a position to comment on the iShares MSCI South Africa ETF that was mentioned in David Berman's glam article yesterday? I checked out its performance and looked at the main constituent companies and it looks OK to me (though I couldn't tell if "blood diamonds" were involved anywhere). Berman suggested it as a way of investing in Africa -though it is represented in other countries also. Thanks for any information you can provide.

Q: Investment firms often charge 2% to manage a portfolio. This equates to a 20% fee on a portfolio that earns 10% (2%/10%) which equals a fee of 100% (2%/2%) of the net gain versus say an 8% benchmark which you can buy as an ETF. How do they get away with this and how do you negotiate lower rates? Thanks. Michael
Q: Pl suggest ETF's for RESP with time horizon 7-8 years
