5 or 6 years ago I watched as autocanada went from $5 to $90ish over a 3 year period. I got out of that way too early, after doubling my investment. I watch Savaria now and feel as this is something similar. Initial investment at $4, I am trying to figure out how long to ride before taking profits. It has grown to a 7% weighting in a balanced portfolio. How far do you think Savaria can run? At what point would you trim back your holdings?

I hold GWO with only about a one percent gain, so not much cap gains tax to pay, and was wondering, since I know you like SlF, whether you thought it worthwhile to sell GWO in order to buy SLf. i would like to have the cash too, (GWO is in a margin account). So i would also sell it for that reason.

Q: You said on an earlier post that you are surprised GoEasy went up 30% during the late market weakness. I came across a post on StockHouse. I don't know if this information is true but here it is:
"Citi is selling its CitiFinancial operations in Canada: 200 branches for a rumoured price of about $400 million. Teachers' is apparently interested. It is a similar business to GSY, although I think they offer mortages as well as consumer loans. Even so, the 200 locations / $400 MM translates to $2MM per location. GSY with about 180 locations and a market cap of 305MM is about 20% less ($1,680,000 per location). So, on that basis alone, GSY SP may rise toward the CitiFinancial valuation. On top of that, GSY has had a single digit P/E for years and still does even with the recent SP rise. If the market bestows even a modest multiple expansion to 10 or 11X, that would push the SP up as well. It is possible that GSY could hit $25 - $28 based on the CitiFinancial metric and over $30 with multiple expansion."

Q: Hi 5i, can you tell me why CCL.B is showing a negative forward PE ratio? I was looking at starting a position but am wondering if this should be a concern.

Q: Dear 5i,

Recently there has been some Q&A about Canadian company shares that trade in Canada and the US, and pay dividends in US dollars. I believe CSU is one of these. I looked into a bit and it seems to trade on the over-the-counter market in the US. Is that correct? If so, would you advise journaling shares from a $CDN account to a $US account to avoid the commission on the exchange rate on the dividends paid? My understanding is the OTC market is not very liquid and is generally to be avoided.

Q: Question on CSH:Own small position 800 shares CSH at ACB of 6.87$. Thinking of switching to NWH.UN also selling loser TA to soak the capital gain and provide enough for 2% position or is adding to position of CSH better. Like the additional 4% monthly distribution.Also own SIA at 2% position. Is it worth the risk for the higher yield ? Wht is the best course of action in your view ? On portfolio review list but not before december I was told unless it improved ?

Q: Self driving cars appear to be in our future. Which companies are involved in developing the control systems for such vehicles? If we believe in the concept, are there stocks that you would recommend? I assume Magna (which you seem to like) will certainly be involved in general parts supply. Do you know if they are involved in the controls as well.
