Investment Q&A
Not investment advice or solicitation to buy/sell securities. Do your own due diligence and/or consult an advisor.
Q: Owned it for quite a while and hence have done well with it. Would you suggest keeping it going forward or would you suggest something else going forward. Thank you.
Q: Their stock hasn’t done much in the past 2 years, however their earnings and other financials seem to be pretty solid. Only paying out a small dividend with little growth is there something that I am missing with this stock (e.g. - its time is coming after its solid last report) or would it be beneficial to sell and start putting money into stronger performing companies in that sector (e.g. - A&W). I love what A&W is doing the last year (i.e. food and renovations). Your thoughts on both?
Q: HBC released some sales results this morning. They looked good to me. What is your analysis?
Q: Would you prefer the Xhy bond etf over the us Bond etf because of hedging currency? Or because the yield is higher for income investors? Would pimcos bond etc be more stable?
Q: Hi, Looks like a strong beat by DH on all metrics, in Q4 earning release, today. Could you comment please. Do you believe this to be a strong reaffirmation of company's stand on the short sellers report ? I think stock deserves to be finally rewarded. Thanks
Q: Large volume change and price uptick today. Were there any news?
Thanks
Thanks
Q: Do you know why NFI has not declared or paid a dividend for the month of Feb.2016 ?
Q: Parkland has recently been downgraded by TD Securities from a target of $25 down to $23. Is there any reason for concern?
Q: Hi Peter,
In preparing for the eventual oil recovery, what would be your top 3 names in the sector right now for capital appreciation and medium risk (i.e. survival during this down turn)? I assume WCP would be included since it is held in the model portfolio?
Thanks for the great service!
Angelo

Q: Do you recommend using trailing stops? And if so, what levels would you recommend setting them at?
Q: Hi, I'm looking for low-fee ETFs similar to CBO in makeup and yield but priced in USD. Any suggestions? Specifically, I'm looking for somewhere to keep bi-monthly USD cash contributions to a USD TFSA before making equity purchase decisions (I don't like seeing cash sit in an account without getting any yield). My account has relatively low commission fees (none to purchase ETFs) so transaction costs aren't a huge concern. Maybe I'm thinking about this incorrectly, however, and any other suggestions on how to best hold monthly contributions would be appreciated. Much appreciated!
Q: Does the company have much growth potential or is it best viewed as primarily a good solid dividend stock? If a dividend stock, does the business model provide for an increasing dividend?
Appreciate your insight.
Paul F.

Q: Had a look at this today. Was surpirsied to see a yield just under 6%. I thought it had been marketed on the basis of about a 4% yield. I don't see our interest rates going anywhere for a while. Is this not a buy here? Can they grow dividend at all or is that doubtful?
Thanks
John

Q: I am wondering why the share buy back is being done. Does Dr. Peller's Holding Company, Jalger Limited, feel the stock is getting a little rich and he wants to offload a portion. I don't imagine the Doc needs the cash. Seems to me that this company has a tremendous amount of intrinsic value and as such, there is plenty of up side. Why now? Albeit the price is reasonable relative to the current price. Who knows what lurks in the mind of man. Notwithstanding I would appreciate your take.
Q: CXI has been on a tear over the last month while banks have not performed well. Do you have any explanation that would enlighten me? Thank you for sharing your expertise.
Q: SPB shows an 8% yield with a chart that indicates the stock price is moving ever downward. Do you think the dividend is sustainable and is there a possibility that SPB will not survive in your Income Portfolio? I would very much like to buy this stock but the high yield and scary chart are keeping me away.
Q: Still positive on this name. Cie reporting tomorrow.
Stock going down.Buy now or after tomorrow's earnings ? Thanks !

Q: Hi Peter and team, with AYA wanting to privatize is there any chance of it going to $30 or near $30 in the mean time or is there no way of it going past $21 until something is settled. Thanks, Nick
