Investment Q&A

Not investment advice or solicitation to buy/sell securities. Do your own due diligence and/or consult an advisor.

Q: What are your thoughts on the current offer for Meg Energy presuming it goes through. If we keep Cenovus stock we would have a half position.

We also own an almost full position in CNQ and TOUR. Have a full position in ENB. Those last 3 are about 5% of our portfolios.

I'm mostly looking at this as providing me with more cash but might hold the half position of Cenovus if the future is bright. (I know you don't have a crystal ball!)

Would you keep the half position of Cenovus or instead sell Cenovus and use the cash to add more to TOUR or CNQ?

We're retired, conservative investors.

Q: Those excellent Cies, and others in various sectors, could be significantly punished if the US law bill 899 were adopted by the US senate with no change..Curiously, the valuations of those Cies are not compromised to this day , maybe because it is still too early, and that all this would only start in early 2026....What strategy do you suggest concerning all Cies that have significant US revenues in general ,before any official US senate confirmation? Your point of view shall be extremely appreciated !

Q: I am looking at yield opportunities in preferreds given where we are in the rate cycle. Could you please comment on buying high yield individual preferreds from stable companies such as Enb ridge as a strategy, and also why their spreads vary so much. In these two releases the yield for the same company goes from the 6 to 9% range, when the stock yields in the 7s.
Thanks!
