Q: Hi Peter,

Can you clarify the Smoothwater issue happening at EQI?
It looks like this might get nasty and distracting, albeit a positive for the stock.

It can't be a coincidence that they Smoothwater released this 24 hrs ahead of the earnings announcement.
Just looking for your take on this.

Q: EQI - Equity Financial

What is your take on the early warning report filed today (November 11th) by Smoothwater Capital, suggesting that Mr. Kyprianou may be trying to effect change in the management of Equity Financial? Is there a legitimate possibility that Kyprianou will be re-appointed to management? The market appears to like the idea of people fighting for control.

Q: GIB.A, I know you like this company highly. My research shows: huge debt.,very low ROE,121% > MRQ in revenue but -71% in EPS & no dividend. It went down a bit on the Obomacare problem-I hoping a bigger collapse but his starting to rebound. What am I missing in my analysis-oh trading at a huge premium to EPS-in other words very expensive. Make me feel better about this one so I can pull the trigger.

Q: Good morning. After reading through EIF's earnings report I am considering averaging down because the poor results appear to reflect expenses involved in Westower's rapid growth, and management has encountered such situations in the past with early return to profitability. Q: This is a comment not a question about Bryon's comment.

Personally I find the question and answer portion of the service to be of huge value. Although I only post a small number of questions I do find that I benefit by reading the questions and answers posed by others. Although it may be a small number of people asking questions I think they are still adding value and I appreciate it very much. It has brought companies to my attention which I otherwise would not have discovered.

I raise this point merely to highlight that there is value beyond just getting answers to ones own questions, just something to consider when thinking about the idea of limiting the number of questions a user can pose.

Q: Good morning 5i,
I transferred our portfolios from an advisor about three months ago. One particular RRSP portfolio was transferred “in kind”. Two positions in that portfolio, CUS and CHR-B, are down 26% and 20%, respectively. I have held them for approximately 2 years. My question is, should I sell them and get into something else, or hold on? I find it very hard to look at these large losses.

Q: I am looking to increase my holdings in financials. My only holding is Gluskin Sheff bought this year. I have looked at Fiera and Element and Genworth MIC. I am leaning towards Fiera, but I would appreciate your thoughts on the similarities or lack thereof.
I also find the description of "financial services" rather vague. It would be informative to have a little more definition of what they are doing. Our local loan shark says he is in financial services. Your thoughts? Thanks in advance.
