Q: I would like to derisk my portfolio and pull out of trading equities myself. I am near 70. What mawer products or other etf/mutual fund products can I hold in my trading account that would give a fair dividend , would have preferred tax rate on those dividends and reasonable MER.
Q: The stock price continues to slide. For a holding in an Non-Registered Account used for dividend income, in your opinion, is GS facing too strong a headwind and secondly, might it be a candidate for "Tax Loss" selling?
Q: Hi Ryan what do you feel the reason for bns decline more so than the others and were do you fell support is for this stock is
The profit I had is almost gone and soon will be under water again.
Kind regards
Stan

Q: I am a recent subscriber to your service, and I find it to be excellent. Thank you.
I am in the process of looking for a low risk US stock. Dividends are not necessary. I was considering IBM given its leadership in analytics. What is your view? Do you recommend other US stocks, with a 2-5 year time horizon?

Q: I am a retired, conservative, dividend income investor and have 1/2 to 2/3 positions in each of these securities. I trim-add to my stocks when my asset allocation needs adjusting (recently topped up BCE, BNS). I am considering topping up these 4 stocks, but am fully aware that Tax Loss Selling Season will soon be in full swing. Having said that, all 4 of these stocks have already been beaten up a fair bit.
I know you are NOT a market timer, but does your crystal ball foresee further downside as we work our way through the next 2 months of Tax Loss Selling? Using TCL as an example, you just added 1% to your position. I am sure you must have had quite an internal 5iR discussion about "when" to add that position vs. your 10% cash position at that time and the need to deploy some of it. OR...is it as simple as...this stock has been beaten up so much, it has excellent value now, we know we can't time the bottom, so let's just buy it now?
Thanks...Steve

Q: Hi, I am looking for dividend paying stocks that also have the most upside share price potential in both the short and long term. Could you rate the above, best to last, and if you have any other suggestions, that would be greatly appreciated.
I am not overly concerned with sector allocation.
Many thanks.

Q: I have a portfolio with most sectors represented except for energy to the exception of PPL and ENB I might want to step in with a half position and wonder if I should go with an etf or rather an integrated oil company or else just a pure producer.
Q: I have 5% in this stock in mine and my grandkids.Your comments please.
Q: I'd like to put some money in GIC's. Do you have any recommendations? My bank's GIC rates are much lower than the third party rates. There's only a flat fee of $20 to buy them so that doesn't bother me. The best returns seem to be offered by "Manulife Bank" and "Equitable". They are almost double the big banks. I'm leaning towards Manulife. Is there any risk when buying GIC's?
Q: Hi Peter, Ryan, and Team,
Not a question, but a response to Mike who asked earlier about ECI's status in his account. I looked at my Scotia iTrade account and assume that, in the interim, they are using another "ticker" for ECI; in my case it's E012247. No BIP shares are shown yet.

Q: What is the current situation with regards to the short attack on the company earlier in the year. With the recent decline in share price it has a very attractive yield. What are the odds of a dividend cut? What per cent do insiders own? This company has executed well in the past seems to have good management and their airline business is a near monopoly in the north. The erosion of the share price seems to be more in sympathy with markets in general rather than based on company metrics. Appreciate you comments.
Q: When is SU reporting & what are the expected EPS & Revenue?. Is this a good time to start a position? thanks for u usual great services & views
Q: Hi, On BNN Market Call Monday, the guest, in his market outlook segment, suggested that we may be facing a downturn worse than 2008, which is certainly not a very pleasant prospect. Your comments please.
Q: I utilized tax loss selling for BABA in cash portfolio, but I am also down 20% in my TFSA. I am tempted to hold until things improve, but it's hard to read the market. What is your advice, hold or sell?
Q: I recently asked a question about tax loss selling in the US and Canada that obviously wasn’t clear enough.
I wanted to know how tax loss selling in the US for an American investor compares to Canada for a Canadian investor. How similar are the tax implications, rules etc.?
Thanks, Hugh

Q: I have a full position in FIH.U and have recently added to the position. In your opinion is this a good long term hold or should I switch to EEM in the future ? Thank you for this great service.
Q: Hello 5i,
This is a question more for the membership than for yourselves. This morning Jack mentioned that he had received his disposition from his ECI shares so I thought I would have a look, but we have received nothing yet. Now, we elected to receive the BIP.UN shares as well rather than take all cash, so maybe that makes a difference. Have others received their proceeds yet?
I understand that an interim vehicle will be set up to facilitate the share portion so obviously it might take longer than a pure cash option. Just curious........
Cheers,
Mike

Q: 'Interesting' to see STN selling MWH. The market seems to like this news this morning.
The purchase of MWH in 2016 seemed hopeful, when in 2016 it was hoped to "boost Stantec’s annual revenues by nearly 60 per cent", but there never was a big impact.
I have about 3.5% of my portfolio in STN and held STN since 2004, but thinking it may be time to sell and add to my WSP position which is also 3.5% of my portfolio.
How do you think the sale of MWH will impact STN's prospects for the next 2 years? Is it possible to say at this point?
Thanks.
