Q: Good morning,
I would like to add a US health care name to my portfolio. Considering MDT or SYK. Which do you prefer or do you have a better idea? I currently own IHI.
Thanks, Dennis
Q: In light of where we are in the business cycle and the trend of lower interest rates, I’m doing a review of my portfolio, $620000.
Recently reduced my position in ENB by half going from 10% to 6% and subsequently bought PPL. I’m looking for a second opinion. I’m an experienced investor familiar with the volatility of the market. Just looking to position myself for the next 6 maths to a year.

Q: I have to express my concern regarding your response to Dave re: COV on 7/29. The comment that you take a "Portfolio Approach" and 5I "will not enter into debates on individual stocks" is the issue. My concern here is that I do not buy ALL of the stocks in a particular portfolio but do own many of them. By the sheer presence of a stock in a 5I portfolio suggests to me that you approve of the stock and are recommending it. I have held onto stocks far too long because it was retained in the portfolio. I consider if a stock remains in one of your portfolios it is a "Hold" recommendation from 5I. Am I wrong?
Q: I currently hold Shopify and it equates for approximately 10% of my portfolio. I'm teetering back and forth if to trim my position before earnings or after. What would be your recommendation in a situation like this? Thanks for your guidance!
Q: RE: Vermilion Energy results. In a previous answer to a question asked by Mike you said, "There was no word on the dividend". That makes it sound like the company avoided addressing their very high dividend. Not true..
They actually mentioned the high dividend many times today:
1- in the Q2 results
2- twice, answering 2 different questions during the conference call
3- and during a post results interview on BNN
Q: SHOP reports later this week but down 5% this morning (Monday). Does someone know something beforehand? I don't see any news. Or is this profit taking prior to release. Or something else.
AYX reprorts on July 31st and you mentioned a bit of a loss to be reported. It is down today and my question is should I take a bit off the table now? Or do you feel AYX will just bounce back or drop more?
It has been such a strong stock.
Thanks for all you do. Its been a great 5 years and I look forward to the next!
Q: I am looking for ideas for 3 ETFs (to complement an existing portfolio):
(a) small cap equities (preferably, global; if not, then US-focused);
(b) global equities, ex-U.S.
(c) emerging markets.
This is for a LIRA account. I'd like all 3 ETFs to be non-hedged, in Canadian dollars, to be Canadian situs (ideally), and not to have 15% withholding on distributions. I think "VEE" might meet all of these criteria for an emerging markets fund (am not sure).

Q:
about a year ago peter was on bnn and had covalon as a top pick, the next week the awful crista freeland had her saudi arabia tweet and covalon has been going downhill ever since culminating in last weeks disaster..i was a huge shareholder , but that week of freeland i sold every share i had never to return.
a lot of members who are afraid to lose one dollar have held on ever since ,and you seem to enable them by all the questions on covalon.
my question is why do you persist with covalon holding it in the growth portfolio as well, there is absolutely no reason to be there and you do this with a few others as well, the stars group comes to mine. i do not get it.
