Investment Q&A

Not investment advice or solicitation to buy/sell securities. Do your own due diligence and/or consult an advisor.

Q: PARK LAWN CORP have contracts with 2 companies namely Edgemark Developments and Nine To Seven Limited with both controlled by directors of Park Lawn. This seems like a conflict of interest to me since the Directors will be biased to use their companies and not shop around.
Secondly Park Lawn lends money to these 2 companies to buy PLC shares at a low interest rate payable on maturity far in the future. I think this practice is hurting share holders. Not only are they giving our money away but at the same time are diluting our shares.

I would appreciate your view on my objections.

Q: What is your opinion on Park Lawn Corp, a cemetery and funeral home operator that is growing by acquisition?

I currently hold a 2.0% weighting of this company in my portfolio. Considering that this is a small company and that I am a risk tolerant investor, does this weighting seem appropriate. In light of a recent acquisition in Michigan, I have been considering bumping it up to 3-4%.

Thanks.

Q: Hi team. I'm looking for long term growth stories. Particularly ones that will continue to benefit from an aging boomer population. I'm thinking of things like retirement homes, health care services, funeral services, etc… Do you have any recommendations for these types of investments? Thanks for your continued efforts.
