Q: Hello: I want to add an insurer stock in Canada and the USA. I admire and follow FAST Graphs. The following companies were recently reviewed: Aflac (AFL), MetLife (MET), Principal Financial Group (PFG), Prudential Financial (PRU), Great-West Life (GWO) iA Financial (IAG), ManuLife Financial (MFC), Power Corporation of Canada (POW), Sun Life Financial (SLF).

I would like your recommendations for the best choice in each country: Objective: solid, safe, long-term hold with capital appreciation potential and good consistent dividend income and dividend growth. Thank you.

Q: Hello I was wondering if you know of any ETF's like the ZEB for banks that would represent the insurers either traded in the US or Canada that you would recommend for a long term hold in and RRSP. DRIP eligible preferred.

Q: I am mostly (90%) invested in US markets . (Had desperately wanted to allocate 30% to Canadian , but have done horribly on every Canadian stock I bought ( ENB, GUD, ALA) .Therefore , for next couple of months I have gone back to buying US , when markets dip. To take advantage of the dips , I keep cash reserve. That reserve was reduced somewhat as stocks fainted last week. This is a what-if question about raising cash for next big dip.
Question: I hold both PRu.us and MET.us. Which one (IF ANY) would you sell to add to cash reserve (there being no urgent need). Between PRU and MET if you like one a lot less than the other, your reasoning would be most helpful.

Q: I see the sector is down the last few days, but MET has seemed to drop more in share value than SLF, & AIG,. Do you know of any reason for this and are you still positive in regards to MET. I am aware you don't follow the US market that closely. Also, if you are allowed, the report date of SPE.TO, CEU.TO, & WCP.TO. Thanks

Q: I know that you suggest Sun Life for a Canadian life insurance company, but how would it stack up against the potential of other life insurance companies in the US? Brian Acker recently recommended Met Life saying it was much cheaper than Sun Life. How would you compare Sun Life to US companies? Overall what Life Insurance companies would you invest in regardless of Canada or US?

Q: Hello Peter, I'm looking for a solid, long-term, US investment for my RRSP. Ford is yielding almost 4.8% with a very low P/E. Metlife is yielding around 3% with a P/E around 17. Which of these two would you favour for a decent 'sleep at night' long term hold and for a better result? Also, which US company in the military/defence area might you currently favour? Thanks!

Q: Hi 5i

I apologize..another US question. I have looked at CH AIG AFL PGR and MET. Do you feel there is more upside to US Insurance companies. So far in my research CH has not gone up as much as the others and AFL has had a big drop today. Would you suggest one to me please.
Thank you for your sage advice as always.

Q: re: MET

the last time someone enquired about MET (US) was in August
I have in my portfolio PWF and SLF
they have a good run
How does MET (US) compared to the Canadian Life co in terms of
dividends and more important some upside potential for capital gains ?
