Q: I hold NFI -2.0 % weight, PHO-1.7 weight and SJ -2.9 weight. I am under water all on 3 of these stocks in my TFSA and if I was to increase the weight , should I increase all 3 or just NFI and PHO to a 3% weight.

Q: Simple question

Does 5i view this deal as significant in any way (from the Globe)

Knight Therapeutics Inc. (GUD-T) announced the closing of a strategic financing agreement in Moksha8 Inc., a specialty pharmaceutical company focused on licensing and marketing “innovative and established therapeutics” in Latin America, for up to US$125-million.

Under the agreement, Knight will initially lend Moksha8 up to US$25-million in working capital funding, of which US$10-million will be issued at closing. Knight said it may issue up to an additional US$100-million in funding for M&A and the acquisition of new licenses.

Q: I still have a large portion of my investment portfolio in mutual funds. I am disappointed with the returns and am thinking about the following change:

sell all mutual funds, move proceeds into my online trading account with the following allocation:

70% in ETFs covering:
- Canadian Market (50%)
- US Market (25%)
- International developed markets (15%)
- Emerging markets (10%)
30% in higher growth stocks (5i favorites)

I have a 15 year time horizon.
In the summer I liquidated my TFSA mutual funds and moved proceeds into the 5i balanced growth/income model portfolio.
Please provide some comments on this strategy. Is it too conservative, too aggressive? Generally, do you recommend any adjustments.

Q: I was disappointed with the sizeable drop in the share price of Cineplex today. When I look at the attendance and revenue results for the past twelve years, attendance is essentially flat, not down, while revenues have shown a consistent increase (about 60% since 2009). Am I just trying to convince myself to hang in there in the face of the inevitable decline or do you think there is hope for this stock?

Q: i sold at $37. still bitter.

why is ellis jacob given a pass on cineplex performance?

he talks as if he controls nothing poor movie slate cannot do anything.

it is a monopoly.

the theatres are minimally acceptable at best no money is spent on them.

why not start a movie pass like subscription?

work on the stale scene rewards program.

go on amc or cinemark websites and grab their ideas.

stock has been cut in half and shareholders are upset but nothing happens.

MAXR is really cheap..wondering if US spending on defence may benefit it? Especially Digitalglobe?

Another cheap company is MU in a different sector..What are your thoughts on these sale priced stocks at current levels?

Q: This is in reference to Grant's Feb 15 question on reading materials in relation to bonds and fixed income investing. I found Hank Cunningham's "In Your Best Interest" to be a very good and useful book. It has the advantage of having a mainly Canadian focus. He also helpfully answered a question for me when I cold-emailed him, which was very nice of him. I also liked the parts of Benjamin Graham's "The Intelligent Investor" that dealt with managing a balanced portfolio of investments and using strategic rebalancing between fixed income and equities to good effect and for risk management.

Q: Hi,
could I get your take on the latest quarterly release please for AEM? There were a lot of charges/impairment loses which I find complicates things when trying to determine how the company business is doing.
Fundamentally, was this is positive quarter? Also, what caused such a large impairment loss? I see they reduced the goodwill on 3 mines. Does this mean they paid to much for these in the past?

Q: Hi 5i, I own CSU,COV,KXS, PLC (-3%), and PHO (-12%), however overall I'm 30% up (thank you), I have an extra 11K to add to my TFSA, would you recommend 1 or 2 stocks to complement my tfsa holdings. I'm 3 years away from retirement, medium risk. Would you get rid of any of my holdings?
