Q: Great Site Peter! What are your thoughts on Detour Gold (DGC)? The price has been going up closing at $27.21 today. Would you expect a pullback from this price prior to production which is so far on schedule to begin Q1 2013?

I see you made a comment on May 25. It looks interesting here at $1.20, they are a producer, don't seem to have any debt although hit hard from a rapid decline in iron ore prices. Cash balances are getting low around $10 mill ( I have been told although most recent financials show $22 mill although that was end of June). They have postponed planned capex and have recently scaled back planned production for the balance of 2012 to conserve cash. I guess this is a play on iron ore prices?? If iron ore recovers over the next few months this would have proved a great entry point, if iron ore prices remain soft for a few quarters this company may be in trouble. Any thoughts/opinions would be greatly appreciated. Thanks.

Q: Hi Peter, what is your view on Lorex Technology (Lox.v)? Emerging growth story. 15 consecutive quarters of profitability and recent product launches and geographic expansion that would indicate growth is going to continue at a high rate. Mgmt has consistently outdone their guidance and owns over 20% of shares. Funded growth through internally generated cash and eliminated debt and now has net cash position. Seems dirt cheap relative to Avigilon. thanks.

Q: Relatively new to investing and using direct investing account so asking you: if a US company is a subsidiary of a Canadian company that is a potential take over target, am I to assume that the US stock price will benefit relative to the Canadian company’s stock price? Or should I stick to purchase of the Canadian company?

Q: CFX: Canfor Pulp Products. Even with a dividend cut recently would this company still be a good growth , share price, opportunity. Its PE 8.3X is way less than average of 23X EPS $1.03 is 2.5X better than Industry.PB is only 1.5X, Debt to capital is only 21% & ROE is double industry norm. I don't understand why this stock shouldn't be double or more ??

Q: I have a question about Brookfield Renewable
I use the TMXMoney site to check fundamentals of companies. This site shows that the EPS of BEP.UN is -1.83 yet it pays out a dividend of 1.38. I like the yield that BEP.UN offers but am concerned that it can't possibly be sustainable if the company is actually losing money. Am I missing something here? I am looking to invest in companies with decent yield. I don't need any capital appreciation but I don't wish to incur big capital losses either.
