Q: Hi Peter and Team:
I am interested in some comments about both FFN (North American Financial 15 Split) and PIC.a Both trade on the TSX but act like a mutual fund with a small 'mer'.
FFN pays a monthly dividend of 0.10 and its yield is about 13.07% at a trading price of $9.18
PIC.a pays a quarterly dividend of 0.20319 and its yield is about 11.30% at a trading price of $7.20.
I really like high paying dividends, as we all should but,,,,
I have been invested in PIC.a since April 2004. This has consistently paid quarterly since that time. It was a DRIP until a few years ago. Now it strictly pays Cash. This cash is 'Return of Capital' and as such has no tax implications in my regular investment account???, I think. Is this a good or bad thing???
I own about 17% of my overall portfolio in PIC.a Some of this PIC.a Div cash is paying out into a RIF withdrawal, with minimal effects on the Capital in the RIF.
Now I am looking for your thoughts on FFN as I diversify a bit more and of course feedback on PIC.a
Thanks. Ken .....

Q: I have noticed DGC doesn't go up with gold price. It went down a lot when gold price falls.
Prices range from low $17 to high $18. I bought in around $20, should I wait until it goes up to that price or sell it now with a loss and buy small caps stocks: Tog, BTE, SPE,Gte,Ivn, Kdx and Nsu.
I also want to switch from Wrn to CS or ROG.
Would like your thought about these.
Don Vialoux said gold seasonal strength until first week of March?
Please remove private in my previous question.
Thank so much.

Q: What are your thoughts on these? With more pipelines likely going through under Trump, pipeline service/camp companies will likely have a great upside. Is here something similar that you would recommend instead? Which of these do you prefer since I think they're fairly similar (correct?)

Thanks!

Q: I've recently sold my shares @ $3.58) and have watched it sink pretty much every day since. It continues to struggle to generate any earnings but does have valuable assets. Can you give any insight as to the value of the assets and at what price you might be tempted? What do you think the odds are of ATP being bought?

Thanks
Peter

Q: Hi Peter + group recently I transferred some WEF stock to both my wife / my own TSFA (out of a cash non- registered account). If I understand the TSFA concept any $ increase in the price of the shares is noon taxable just like any other TSFA deposit. Ort should I have sold the shares outright and then used the $ to but something else ? Thanks for all your ongoing help /advise

Q: Hi,I have Wcp that I will keep, but I also have Tog that I consider ok, for a 2.5 sector weight. For a +three year time frame, and a 2.5% + dividend would you have a better stock to switch to? Or just keep Tog. I consider management and lower debt a key factor.
Also I will be slowly adding to each as cash comes available.
Thanks,Brad

Q: Does Mattel's financial results release offer any insight into Spin Master Toys? Mattel says they were impacted by a significant US toy category slowdown. How would one know if these poor results were specific to a company or an industry? Spin Master is a long term hold regardless as I have confidence with their strategy, especially using evergreen entertainment properties as a setup to sell children toys and branded products. I don't think Mattel has developed this strength.
