Q: I hold this company and I have heard through the whole process with the MEG acquisition that its assets are not the best quality, and that it doesn't have the liquidity compared to CVS. If this is accurate and you can confirm so, I will not hold it for the long term. The share price has moved up a little since CVS has been solidified as the buyer. SCR is going to (subject to board approval) go ahead with the $10 special dividend. Do you think approval of the dividend is a formality, and once approved the share price will move up further? At what price would you consider the $10 dividend baked into the stock prompting a sell? I assume the stock will drop close to $10 on the X date so perhaps it may make sense to sell prior to qualifying for the dividend? Do you share the sentiments presented in this narrative? Thank you. In one of your answers today regarding scr not getting Meg, you mentioned scr giving shareholders a $10 dividend ??? As in 10/ $38.92= 25.7%?! Does that mean if I buy scr shares tomorrow and this dividend gets paid out it’s a 25.7% instant return? Or , did you have to be a shareholder before the initial takeover offer? This type of special dividend seems like a crazy waste of company resources that compounds nothing for the company long term, but if I can get a special dividend of over 25% why wouldn’t I buy it and sell after the dividend?

Strathcona announced they would be paying out a special $10 dividend if the meg deal does not go through.
How would 5i play this?
Currently a holder of meg...Wondering if this is an opportunity to hedge a little?

Q: What kind of oil company it is. It is true that Scrathcona is the 5th largest oil producer in Canada. The CEO was on the podcast In the Money saying that it is still a discount compare other oil companies, it is true. Also, what is the changes that it can purchase MEG energy. Thank you.

Q: meg is being offered .62 shares of scr and $4.10. scr as of yesterday is $31.5 so .62x31.5 +4.1 =$23.63. meg closed @ $26.09. Can I assume there wiil be a higher offer.No one would tender to this offer.

Q: I know this is speculation, but if Strathcona raised their offer and closes the deal with MEG. Do you feel that the price of SCR goes down on the news, similar to WCP going down when it bought Veren. The purchaser tends to go down because they are taking on debt, or diluting, etc while the purchased goes up because of a premium on the purchase price. I'm just wondering if it makes more sense to wait on the news of the deal to finalize. One outcome being they get MEG at a higher price, and their share price pulls back a bit due to the integration risks etc. OR the deal falls through or another company gets MEG and SCR price still goes down on the news for losing the deal.
