Q: Hello Peter:
First in a very short duration of membership, I am very impressed with the response and quality of advice provided. I have listened to you for long time on BNN from your stint in Sprott onward and I like your investment style.

I would very much like to learn how you assign rating on a stock and rationale for weighting within portfolio. For example you changed weighting on AYA.

I try to segment portfolio two ways; as the type of investment (Foundational, cyclical, opportunistic) and according to 13 TSX groups (Discretionary, Staples, Energy, Materials …). Segmentation is to have diversification. Each position is not more than 5%. Bond segment is outside this portfolio. Am I on the right track? Finding which TSX group the stock belongs is sometime difficult so I use my judgment. Any insight on portfolio creation and maintenance will be appreciated. Thanking you.

Q: Hi Peter, your thoughts on a trade would be appreciated. One of my REIT stocks Cominar Real Estate Investment Trust has broken from the pack on the down side. I’m looking to possibly sell this closed end fund and buy something like Chartwell Retirement Residences. I like to hold my positions long term and focus on dividends but I will tweak my portfolio once in a while, so far it’s worked for the better.

Based on previous 5i comments, I am about to rebalance my Health Care sector to 10% @ 2% KBL, 2% PLB, 2% VRX, 2% MRK and 2% BMY. I want growth (30 year old risk on investor) and a bit of US exposure. Do you like this breakdown, or would you sub out 1 of the names for something else / growthier?

Q: Hi, waking up to this $77 offer for Paladin but it sounds complicated with stock offer in new combined entity. Is this more a merger than an acquisition? What do you suggest small retail investors do in this case with PLB share??? Paladin was a core holding for me and there is not a lot of replacements in the space... If move one, would you go up to Valeant or down to Cipher? If keep share, why? Thanks a lot!

Can you provide a couple of your favourite consumer cylical names please? I own autocanada and magna but have more cash to deploy in order to get to my 10% sector target. I would prefer a couple of US names... perhaps a large cap and small cap for balance. As always, your opinion is GREATLY appreciated.

Q: Can you comment on the most recent earnings for PPL, they seem good to me. In the past you have commented that the stock was fully priced, do these earnings change that thesis any?

Q: Is Vanguard Total World Stock ETF a good choice for world exposure at a reasonable price?The diversification seems quite good. Are there any other ETF products that you consider better? Thanks.

Q: I have been advised to safeguard my recent portfolio increases, which have been substantial, by selling shares equal to my profits, leaving only my original investment amounts. While an attractive idea, I am a dividend drip investor and removing the profits will reduce the "multiplier" effect they should have in a bull market. What would you advise?

Wanted to ask you about Urthecast (UR) and whether the commercial potential is similar to MDA's Radarsat. I realize it is still high risk as its camera's with streaming HD Video of earth are not deployed yet, but wanted to see if you and your team have looked at the commercial potential on this one.
