Q: I would like your opinion of Fortis purchase of ITC Holding for 11.3 billion U.S. Dollars. Would Fortis still be a safe stock for a senior as it looks like they bet the farm on this deal.

I know it is different but when Baytex made a large U.S. deal it never worked out for them.

Thank you very much
Charlie

Q: The potential bid of $4.25 per share strikes me as an opportunistic attempt to take advantage of shareholders who are generally spooked by the current markets. Anyone who purchased the shares in the past 3 years or so would certainly be under water on the bid. The offer would represent only a small premium to the price the shares were trading at just a few days ago. Also the company is projected to continue growing, perhaps at a single digit rate, and pays a good dividend. Holding the shares for the next 12-15 months would more than compensate shareholders for the small premium. So why would shareholders tender shares to, what I consider, such a low offer if such an offer is eventually made. Your comments please.

Q: I see that Barclays stock has been under some pressure lately. Do you think they could suspend their dividend? The main reason I ask is because I own their preferred shares BCS.PR.D and I am concerned that they could stop paying dividends all together.

Q: I've held this for about 6 months. My cost is $ 22 per share and it's at $11.80 as of today. I have 8-10 years so I'm not in a hurry to sell. RBC seems very positive on the name. They have target of $ 25 and released a new update this morning. What are your thoughts ?

Q: I currently have a quarter position in Element Financial and as the trend line was down, I was holding off buying additional shares in EFN. Now with the announcement of the split of EFN into two entities, and the most likely increase in the p/e rating increasing, I am wondering if I should buy now, or in a weeks time, say, or hold off until the split is actually done.....Tom

Q: Hi,

I read your comments re the pros of C shares vs A shares. When I look at analysts covering it however, the A shares, GOOGL, I believe, have far more analysts recommending it. 3-4 times as many. Why is that and do you still prefer the C shares?

Q: Thank you for your recent update on Atlantic Power. The common shares do not provide a good investment opportunity at this time as outlined in your report. My question has to do with the convertible debentures. Below is a comment from quarterly update pertaining to convertible debentures as follows:

Our convertible debentures are currently trading at substantial discounts to par, and repurchases at these levels create value for our common shareholders by reducing our cash interest payments, delevering our balance sheet and improving our debt maturity profile," said James J. Moore, Jr., President & CEO of Atlantic Power.

Based on this comment is it a good time to buy the Atlantic Power Convertible debentures?

Thank you

Q: Hi, can I have your updated thoughts on the following pipelines: IPL, ENB or its income fund, and TRP. Which ones are of better value to you right now? And future Growth? Would you know the payout ratios for each and are they sustainable? Are LNG exports looking positive in your views and for these positive? Thanks!
