Q: In a conservative mood a few years ago, and with a high Canadian dollar, we loaded up on consumer staples stocks. Now, we are thinking of lightening up and putting the money into another sector. We are having difficulty deciding which one to hold and which ones to sell, amongst Conagra, Campbell's Soup and General Mills. We have good profits in them all and they are in our RRSP. Can you give us an idea of how one would approach this and what criteria would be important and ultimately, which ones to hold and which to sell?
thanks
thanks

Q: I need US cash, which one of the 2 above should I cash in?
Q: Bought this for my RSP 5 years for income (12% yield) and am 10% down even after currency adjustment. Small part of portfolio (2%) NAV is 10 % higher than share price. I figure that if I am underwater with interest rates and US $ the way they are now, then maybe I should sell. Your thoughts please and thanks. DEREK

Q: Hi Mr. Hodson, 5i.
In your answer to question by Claire May 21, did you say "If you have 10% or less of your portfolio in USD, we think owning it in US dollars is fine (assuming it doesn't bring USD exposure above 10%)." I am a little confused.
Are you saying one's total US $ exposure should be 10% only? Or, am I mis-reading you? Please clarify. Thanks for the service. sarah

Q: I am building an income portfolio to live fully off the dividends and therefore am mainly interested in yield in quality companies and not capital gains. What are your thoughts on investing 10% each into ETO.US (Y8.72%) and EOI.US(Y7.52%) to make up up 20% USD of my income portfolio?
Q: Hi Peter,
I need your advice on the oil and gas stocks in my portfolio. Presently I own Chevron (CVX.US) and Crescent Point (CPG) (4% and 3% of my total portfolio, respectively). I need to sell my Chevron position to pay for upcoming USD expenditures. I was thinking about replacing Chevron with a Canadian company or companies in the energy sector but am struggling with a replacement. What do you suggest? Also, should I increase my exposure to the energy sector at this time? For your information, I have a well-diversified portfolio of 20 individual stocks with about 70% in ‘blue-chip’ companies. Thanks for your help, I have really appreciated your past suggestions.

Q: 5i
Is it still a favourable time to invest in U.S. Stocks . I currently don't have any U.S. Stocks but have been quite pleased with the majority of my Canadian stocks . I'm wondering though that maybe it's time to branch out south of the border . Is it a concern when purchasing U.S. stocks that the Canadian dollar has dropped so much thus making U.S. stocks more expensive to buy or does it all balance out in the end when the stocks are sold and converted back to Canadian dollars ?
That being said what are your thoughts on Wab , sna , and fisv . Buy , hold or sell ?
Thanks
Bill

Q: What are your current views on this stock. Is it good time to initiate a position. Thanks
Q: I am well diversified in the Canadian market, but own no US stocks and would like to buy some ETF's. I am looking at ZDJ, ZUE, VUN, AND ZSP, what is your opinion of these? or can you suggest others that will cover the US market and would you recommend that I also have a World ETF? Thank you for the great service and information you provide.
Q: Can I get your thoughts on this company. I have some US funds and am looking for a stable blue chip company with a good solid dividend. I currently have limited US exposure but am also looking at a few vanguard etf that you have recommended earlier.
Q: Not sure if you follow LOCO, but would appreciate your comments on the most recent earnings, valuation and the restaurant sector in the U.S. generally. Thank-you.
