Q: Do you credit the notion that buying shares in FNV includes a "free option" given the potential reopening of the Cobre Panama mine sometime in the future perhaps under a different government? Considering that for FNV, Cobre Panama was its largest royalty asset at about US$2-billion in net asset value and 22 per cent of revenue, do you believe that patient investors are offered a compelling risk/reward scenario?

Thanks as always for your expertise.

Q: Hello 5i, I've held FNV at 2% weight for the past 6 years as a hedge and precious metal/materials component. It's total return is close to 8%. Shares are in a non-registered account so modest cap gain if I sell. My question is should I hold or sell for WPM , AEM or GFI. All three have materially outperformed FNV past 5 years. Based on your outlook, does it make any sense to trade FNV for WPM or others or just hold in the anticipation of FNV sorting out their issues in Panama, etc? Thanks for all you do.

Q: Hi 5i,

Came across this in the Daily Chase from BNN:

"Tactical Resources Corp. plans to list on the Nasdaq stock market through a merger with a shell company. After the transaction, the combined firm will have an enterprise value of US$589 million. Founded in 2018, Tactical Resources explores and develops rare earth elements — a group of 17 metals essential for defence technology, electric vehicles and semiconductors. The company will use proceeds from the deal to finance construction of a processing facility at the Peak Project, a rare earth minerals mine near El Paso, Texas."

Any thoughts on the company from an investment standpoint would be appreciated.

Thank you!!

Q: What are the tax implications of owing the iShares Gold Trust (IAU) in RRSP and non-RRSP accounts? Is IAU treated the same as other US ETFs for Canadians, from a tax perspective?

I recently read that the US taxes gold as a collectible, at a higher tax rate than equities. Does this apply to Canadians who own IAU?

Thank you for this excellent service.

Q: If you were looking to put on a gold trade at this time, would PHYS .TO be a good choice
It is up 38% in the past 52 weeks.
Do you see a good risk/ reward upside, in gold at this time? Or is it too late ?
Would you suggest another stock or ETF for gold exposure instead of PHYS.TO?
