Q: I own a lot of ER stock in a non-registered account. Even with the run up in price with the announced takeover bid by AUG, I have a considerable Capital Loss. I would like to capture that loss but remain exposed to any further upside that this deal MAY unlock if it comes to fruition. 1) Does it make sense to sell my ER shares now and immediately purchase AUG with the proceeds......this should keep my exposure 100% intact would it not? 2) I assume that because the deal is not done and the two stocks are completely different entities that this would NOT be deemed a superficial loss......is that correct? 3) is it very likely that ER may receive a better bid from someone else and I would lose out by switching the shares to AUG? 4) What would you do in my situation?
Q: I don't own Sherritt thankfully. You note today (July 31) in your response to a question on CNC that nickel prices may strengthen due to electric battery demand. Do you think this will help S or are is the company too far gone? S used to own a nickel mine or smelter to Cuba. Does S still have nickel resources in Cuba and if so do you think a Democratic victory this November will ease restrictions on the import of Cuban nickel into the United States? Any comments on S's cobalt warrants? Are the holders in the money?
Thanks,
Jim
Q: For George on April 1st you ranked a list of Royalty Streaming companies. What is your current view of that ranking, do any stand out and what is your reasoning for the top 3.
Thanks, Hugh
Q: I just noticed that CNBC has gold futures- Dec.20 - $1993, but Investing.com has gold futures-Oct.20-$1981, the difference of 10 dollars and month is not the same. I am confused which futures is correct.? Please kindly explain, many thanks
Q: Can you please add some colour to the recent activities at ER
- is the sale to AUG a done deal?
- if the deal values ER at .42, why is it trading at .28
- the deal appears very complicated with spin outs and share swaps etc...can you explain what exactly is happening and what ER shareholders will end up with at the end when the dust settles
- is this a good deal for ER shareholders?
- what would you do as a shareholder, sell now, wait for deal to close then sell or happily take the new shares with the expectation that the new entity has good growth potential?
Many thanks
Q: Hello Peter,
On my previous question, you felt Alamos was a decent stock and may attract international investors. Given the new data (their earnings), is it better to redirect the monies to Kirkland Lake, Agnico Gold or the ETF , XGD. I thought with higher gold prices, Alamos would have crushed the earnings.. Also, any idea why the block chain etf is surging constantly. Thanks
Q: Any thoughts on GBR's recent reduction in share price? Does there appear to be a reason for it? Would this be good time to accumulate more on what appears to be a solid discovery project?
