Q: I own a basket of REITs and am concerned about Cominar, moreso after their bought deal at a large discount yesterday. They are not growing and with a high payout ratio it seems to me that the deal may have been in an effort to avoid a cut in their monthly distribution. My position is a little down since purchase quite a few years ago, but would rather sell now than at $10.
Appreciate your advice

Q: Hi,
I am retired and 63 years old.
I have 50K in ALTAMIRA HIGH-INTEREST CASHPERFORMER - F
NBC200 in my RSSP waiting to be deployed. I will not need that money for the next ten years. I told my broker that this investment was not even keeping up with inflation.
He suggested to buy CUF.un (20000$) and PWF (30000$).
Would you think of better alternatives?
Thank you

Q: Hi 5i team,
This REIT's share price fell almost 4% after the financials release on friday. As I believe eastern Canada will do well over the next few years, would you recommend it at this price, or could you propose better alternatives ?

Much thanks

Q: Hi,
During the next 2 months or so I will have an extra 120 K to put in stocks (or elsewhere). As I'm retired I will try to have a high income slice stocks. Can you give me 6 to 8 ideas for high dividend REIT or other stocks. Distribution 8% and more, monthly a plus, starting with the safer. A little volatility not a problem for me. I have now CUF.UN, KWH.UN, NWH.UN.
Thanks in advance.
Francois

Q: Cominar suspended their DRIP as detailed in a news release dated January 20th. Interested in your comments on this and what if anything it is a symptom of? What is Cominar's overall financial shape and are they affected by the Target closings and the Oil contagion? Also Sears is a big liability coming up for Landlords - is this a looming issue for CUF?

Q: Hi 5i team,
I have 11% of my portfolio in REITs and real estate stocks and these are CUF.UN (7%), FCR (2%) and HR.UN (2%). I am wondering whether I should reduce CUF.UN to 5% and buy something else in this sector? CUF.UN seems to underperform other real estate stocks but I really cannot find anything wrong with this company - reasonable debt, low P/E, high dividend... Am I missing something negative WRT CUF.UN? I have no problem holding the stock for 2-3 year term as long as dividend is safe and the company remains profitable. So here are my questions summarized:
1. Is there anything wrong with CUF.UN fundamentals and expectations?
2. Do you suggest to (a) reduce (b) liquidate my CUF.UN holdings?
3. If the answer to previous question is "yes" where would you reinvest in this or similar sector?

Thanks a lot! You are absolutely the best investment service I encountered in my 20+ years of investing.

Q: Cominar REIT (CUF.UN)

Hi Team,

This is a follow up question after your reply today about Cominar's purchase of new assets yesterday. I see this morning CUF.UN is down ~1.23% suggesting the market doesn't like the deal so much. I was wondering if it's because the cap rate for the new properties is 6.5% but CUF.UN's dividend is 7.64%, suggesting the payout ratio of 74.81% would have to rise or the dividend would have to decrease all other things being equal. Is this a correct interpretation or am I off base? Your advice and knowledge is greatly appreciated and is helping me to learn so much. Cheers. Michael

Q: Peter and staff, My question is on Cominar. It cotinues to be not well liked by the market. Many of the other reits have stopped going down or are recovering somewhat. I thought that Cominar was a very good stable reit. I must be missiing something. Can you please tell me what it is? Is there something different about Cominar from the other high quality reits? The best of the season to all of you, Thanks, Ken
