Q: Would you be a buyer of CN (Canadian National RR) at this time?
Q: what would be your favorite natural gas stock with the most torque to gas prices?
Q: A rare startup success story: Shopify hits $1-billion milestone
"For Mr. Lütke, having a Canadian investor lead the latest fundraising was key; he had sought domestic money in previous fundraising efforts but was disappointed by an unwilling and risk-averse venture community that was still shell-shocked by the dot-com bust.
Silicon Valley funds were eager to invest early on but only on condition he move the company to the Bay area, something he resisted before teaming up with Bessemer, which imposed no such constraints. “I had an almost unreasonable desire to make this succeed in Canada,” said Mr. Lütke, who is married to a Canadian, has two children, and is a citizen of his adopted country. “Now I have a bit more of a mission: I want to show how much of a company I can build here.”
May be money managers, brokers and financial educators will use this remarkable story to stop considering that selling out is the ultimate game of success for any company in Canada. I am also an immigrant and a very proud Canadian, wishing out loud that we all together build more and grow more this dear Country of ours rather than using it for a short term gain. Congratulations, Shopify!

Q: Hi Peter and Team
I really liked your recent suggestion about 2 large caps and a junior in the gold sector...realizing of course that the whole sector is totally out of favor. What is your assessment of the merits between MND and ASR? What would be your preference ...which one is best to survive until gold shines again or at least returns between 1350-1400?
I thank you in advance for your time and effort!

Q: My question is about bep.un. Another member has also asked you a question about it today.
The National Bank Market Q internet site indicates also weak earning P/E of 244 and 669 for the Dividend/Earning ratio.
BRF preferred shares are getting hammered. The BRF/PF offered April 24,2013 are now yieldind 6.68% and their earning coverage ratio is only 0.7 time.
Same situation for BAM/PN and BAM/PM while those of Brookfield Office such as BPO/PH have remained relatively stable during the same time period.
Would it be safe to buy the BRF and BAM preferred shares for their high yield?
Regards

Q: Your thoughts on a@w income fund, should I continue to hold or sell.
Q: Does Freehold Realities (FRU) still have a payout ratio greater than 100% ? If so, do you consider this to be a signal to stay away from buying this stock. The price has been down lately and it appears to be a compelling buy.
Thank you.
Thank you.
Q: DHX Media announces $133 million secondary offering of common shares... DHX WILL NOT receive any of the net proceeds from the Offering. http://www.newswire.ca/en/story/1279377/dhx-media-announces-133-million-secondary-offering-of-common-shares I'm confused... Why would a company do this and not receive any proceeds? - please help me to understand how this practice benefits me as a shareholder. - Cheers.
Q: Hi Guys, Great service. BRP Rec Products (DOO) reported earning today. Can I have your comments on the earnings and your thoughts for the future. Polaris industries in the US (same industry) has had a great year. Can we expect the same from DOO

Q: In a recent answer you mentioned the concept buying SLF as interest rate protection, Could you please elaborate. I assume you mean the insurers will do well when interest rates go up despite their recent run. Can you clarify why. Do you think the same would be true for the banks? I hold lots of bank stocks and this would please me very much. I hold few insurers an asking should consider holding my nose and buying more.
Thanks, Manfred
Thanks, Manfred
Q: Peter and Co, thanks for the exceptional service.
My question is off topic in some ways but it may have implications for one of Peter's favourite stocks, BNS.
Reuters has reported that in Germany, the UK and the USA there are ongoing investigations into the suspected manipulation of the benchmark pricing of gold and silver. This investigation comes on the heels of the LIBOR price-fixing scandal. The Bank of Nova Scotia-ScotiaMocatta is one of the five banks that are involved in the twice-a-day price fixing for gold.
If there is found to be manipulation in the gold price-fixing, how significant would this be for BNS if ScotiMocotta is implicated?
Thanks.

Q: Hi
CMI continues to fall in price.
I contacted ivestor relations and they said that it is tax selling.
Would you agree with this answer.
The company has had no news since October earnings report.
Could shareholders be getting impatient?
Thanks
Hersh

Q: Hi Peter
In an article recently written by Boyd Erman he painted a negative picture of the U.S. residential rental market. He mentions that early players in the rental market like Carrington Holdings were having problems finding tenants for their properties, and that the returns aren't there anymore,he also mentions Tricon in this aricle. If Tricon experiences the same problems how much would this impact their earnings and cash flow?
Thanks Gord
