Q: REF.UN has dropped about 20% over the past year. I'm wondering if this is a good long-term hold regardless of what short-term interest rates do.

Q: HLF:
This latest acquisition of American Pride seems good; paying 25% of sales. I'm concerned that they paid nothing for goodwill which may indicate that it is losing money. Please comment.

Q: Hi 5i Team,
There were two preferred shares recommended on BNN this afternoon, PWF.PR.S (rated P1) and BRF.PR.E, that I would like a second opinion on.
Both offer healthy yields, and sell at discounts to their call prices. I am thinking of boosting my preferred share content in my dividend-oriented portfolio. Other than interest rate risk, do you see any red flags on either of these issues?
Many thanks,
Brian

Q: Hello
I am on the fence for investing in ECA.
The recent news on the impending court case for polluting well water has me wondering if they are too risky.
Looking at their previous highs ECA looks like a great opportunity.
Would you have any recent research or opinion available.
Thanks in advance.

Q: I have a 3/4 position in AFN. I just found that the ebitda has dropped from 55.6 in Dec '09 to 44.2 in Dec 12. How can I find the ebitda today, and how significant is it in this particular stock? I'm willing to wait for better numbers if the dividend is safe?
Q: Greetings Peter and Team,
Your thoughts on the recent movement of AFN. Thanks.

Q: How sensitive is BEP.UN to rising interest rates? Can you quantify sensitivity in some way? Is it more or less sensitive than a REIT?
Thanks so much!

Hello,
I bought quite a bit of Claymore Gold Bullion and Claymore Silver bullion which was later bought out by i-shares. Since my purchases there has been a lot of discussion about "paper" gold and now I am wondering whether the bullion is really in the vault? Do you think dealing with the Central Fund of Canada is more reliable? I am losing some sleep on this so your answer will be appreciated!

Q: GS Gluskin and Scheff.
Does this week's developments (owners selling their shares) alter your opinion of GS as a worthy candidate for one's portfolio? If no, what would you replace it with? If yes, would you back up a small truck and buy more shares?
Thank you for your help; and I hope this finds you enjoying your time in Europe and picking up some new and useful ideas.

Q: Peter and team, I am considering buying Cryolife (CRY-N) as a smaller cap company. Their numbers look good to me. I would appreciate your views on it. Thanks for your input and excellent service.
Q: I would like to invest $100,000 in US market ETF's for a long term hold. What would your recommendations be for ETF selection? Thanks! Linda
Q: hello Peter, You appear to favour Goldcorp (g) as do most investment people. I have done some research on G and it appears to be one of the worst stocks from a shareholder point of view, losing value year after year (its average return over the last 10 years is about 3.5% during which time gold has quadrupled). I am at a loss, can you explain.
