Q: Peter,
I'd like your opinion on this "new generation" of dividend paying oil juniors. Speciifically, I am interested in hearing your thoughts on Twin Butte Energy at the current levels and how it compares with Renegade Petroleum (looks like Renegade is setting themselves up to be quite similar to Twin Butte).

Q: You mention that you favour other ETF's over EIT.UN. Which did you have in mind? I note that EIT.UN trails TSX and CDZ over all periods from recent months to YTD to 10 years, except 4 year.

Q: GCL (Collabor) Is this a good candidate and a good time to buy this stock for a yield oriented portfolio?
It is low beta, pays a healthy 8.79% dividend and is trading near the bottom of its 5 year range.

Q: What do you think of Macdonald Detwiler symbol MDA? Is it too expensive here at 14 times cash flow? It seems to have the elements that you guys like in a company - decent and growing dividend, good history of earnings, and smart targeted acquisitions. Are they too wedded to government contracts for your liking? Thanks and I love the site.

Q: Hi Peter,Patheon has been a lightly traded stock until more recently.My concern about the Transferable Rights offering today is for a short period to Dec 28/12.Do you think there will be much of market to sell the Rights that are only active for about 5 weeks in a thinly traded stock? My experience with options in Toronto market has not been good in terms of spread and liquidity. Thanks,George

Q: I do a yearly review of my portfolio and stocks I may be interested in buying for the future. This year I decided to add EPS, dividend payout and profit margin to other metrics I look at. Please help me understand how companies can continually pay out more than they take in, especially when their profit margins are low or in the negative. An example I was looking at was BPF.UN. The web site I was looking at shows EPS as -0.15, dividend payout 1.18 and profit margin as -6.48.

Q: Beta. You were asked where to find Beta. He might look at his brokerage firm. FYI, my Investors Edge account lists beta (under the performance screen) for about 90% of the stocks that I follow.

Q: Peter, what is going on with CUS do you think. Even to-day when everything is up-even ECI-this one is still headed down. Anything I read looks positive long term. My neighbour is an engineer at the plant here in BC and he is quite positive on the company and owns a lot of shares. Should I buy more at some pont? Thank you...JP
