Q: BAXTER (BAX.us)just spun half of itself under the name BAXALTA (BXLT.us). Is BXLT worth keeping? BXLT dropped significantly on its first day after spin off (July 1) and continues its descent today. Some of this might be market related. One often sees a company spin off the bad parts of itself. Would you tend to believe that that is the case here ? On BAX itself , in December 2014 your advice on old-BAX implied that it was not too shabby a company (I am paraphrasing and hope I interpreted correctly). Do you have the same view of BAX as the one you expressed 6 months ago?
Q: is there any way to minimize your pain on a bad move made in a tfsa. i bought bxe for 9.14 in spring of 2014, was pleased when it went up to 11. in summer, and now i'm crushed at less than $3

Q: I wonder if the sum of your report card categories for PM reflect your overall opinion of the company. Your report has 12 categories and PM received 83% of A, 33 % of B and 17% C. Yet, It's overall rating is C+. Does this suggest that some categories should be weighted or do you need more categories or maybe C+ is too severe? ...Sleepless in Niagara
Q: This one seems to me to fit the bill of investment in a good sector, investing in the U.S (supposedly a good place for the foreseeable future) and also taking advantage of US $ rising/ Cdn $ sinking. My finger is poised over the 'buy' button waiting for your advice. Thx, Art
Q: Hi,
Slw is a royalty outfit, this I get but if the royalty is based on an outtake of a potential decline production of the royalty debtors, then is it not that the payout to slw is lower?
If I am correct in my assumption,
1/what is your take on the value of it's contracts in view of potential reductions of production? And
2/with consideration of (1) do you think it's actual price: $ 21.62 is a fair value or expensive.
Thank you for your evaluation.

Q: Hello 5i team,
Health/Pharma represents 10.5% of my RRIF portfolio; it comprises Concordia, Valeant and Cipher as core holdings and partial holdings (like an ETF) of CRH,GUD,PHM and RX.
I'm thinking of adding NHC to the latter; which of the last five would be your least favourite and why?
Thanks, as always
Antoine

Q: Hi Peter, Team,
From your answers, I understand the Balanced Equity portfolio stocks are mostly Large cap, with roughly 20% MidCap with a couple of Small Caps.
Re: the Growth Portfolio. you have a warning on the page re: the stocks being higher risk. Are all the stocks here Small Caps, with 4 Venture/Micro caps? Are there any Large caps or MidCaps in it? If so, can you indicate which ones? Thansk for the education. sarah

Q: Good day folks: I am back to square one on this one and am thinking that it might be a good time to sell what with Alberta's economy, NDP gov't and new carbon rules. I am interested in how you see it over the next 12 months, I have yet to completed the recommended model portfolio and could relocate capital to that.
as always, thanks for your insights.

Q: Hi Peter and Team,
Apparently easyhome Ltd. (EH) is planning to change its name to "goeasy Ltd." Would this be because the loan business, in their view, has greater potential than their furniture, etc. rental business?
In general, when a company changes its name, could there be an impact on the share price? Specifically, I'd appreciate your view on this proposed name change. (We just received a voting instruction form.)
Thanks as always for your valued insight.

Q: Are you aware of any companies that are involved in disruptive technology that would increase productivity in the oil and gas sector in western Canada? With the possibility of prolonged low oil prices, energy companies that embrace change could still be profitable.

Q: Hello 5iResearch. If I had to pick one integrated oil for my RRSP which one would you recommend between Husky and Suncor? The yield on HSE is tempting but does it run the risk of being cut? Thank you.
Q: What is your opinion? Should I buy now?
Q: Good day Peter, Can you suggest 4, 5 companies in the renewable energy, carbon capture type of buzz? I have a feeling this is where investments will be going in the near future. Thanks
Q: This comp. has been transforming itself over the last few years: paying down debt. (55% of E now), cut it's dividend, acquired companies -one lately for all cash, I believe and metrics look good: P.E. 10, ROE of 300% (must have retired some shares ??), low pay-out ratio and > EPS due, I guess, to cost cutting? I've held for quite a while; so, with dividends my head is above water. Comments please as I am not sure whether to keep holding or not?.
Q: What is your opinion on this company ?
