Q: Could you make a recommendation for investment of RESP funds. My son is a year old yesterday and the the contributions are relatively small per year (2,500), insufficient to have a balanced position, especially with the relative cost of trade. I currently have the first installment with cpd and although i appreciate the $5/ month divident,, and am going to deposit the next installment in a few months and would like your take. Thanks for the great advice... Aya, stn, bad, csu... Wow.

Q: Hi Peter and Team. I would appreciate your opinion on Bonnett's Energy, (BT-T) which provides completion and production services to the oil and gas industry. It has a market cap. of 86 million,total return for one year of 47.5% and a five year return of 133%.It's yield is 14.2%. It recently had a big run up. It's growth and yield make it most appealing, but am I missing something? Your comments would be most appreciated. Many Thanks. Bill

Q: Hi Peter, I am 64, teaching part time and have about half my retirement savings in a RRIF. I have suffered 2 disasters chasing yield , Poseidon (PSN), and Sprott Resources Corporation which just cut it's dividend just 6 months after declaring their first dividend. Terrible management in both cases. I am looking for monthly pay, and 8 to 9%. Any guidance? Is ATP still too uncertain? Am I reaching? I am trying to not touch capital but my losses in both have hurt.

Thank you for providing good insight into this very volatile environment! I am a recent graduate into the trading game and review the Questions every day!

Now to my question: Approximately 8 months ago, I purchased CBO and XCB as part of my fixed income portfolio. Since the threat of rising interest rates, both of these have declined. I have a 5% weighting on each and wondering if I should keep these or take my losses before interest rates really do rise?

Q: Hi Peter & 5i: This is in follow-up to your answer to kelsi’s question on Twin Butte (TBE). You indicated that you “would expect a dividend cut in 2014.” Can you please explain the basis for that expectation and maybe provide a couple of examples, from TBE’s peers, which are comparatively better on the specific metrics that you see as red flags of an upcoming cut? Q: I have shares of AAH They anounced a speical dividend of $7.20 to share holders on aug 6 to be paid aug 16 after the anouncement the shares shot up $6.00 I was told the shares could drop post dividend as much as the dividend itself. Q: Hi Peter and the 5i Team,

Last night Michael Bowman was on BNN. He suggested holding gold bullion e.g. the CGL ETF instead of holding a gold miner such as Goldcorp. Yet when I plot returns over various time periods, G has done better than CGL and other gold bullion ETFs. I know that 5i recommends holding some gold in every portfolio (specifically Goldcorp) and presently I don't own any gold at all. What is your take on Mr. Bowman's gold strategies? If a portfolio is approximately 300K, would a 5% gold weighting be too much because of the volatility? Thanks for providing such a terrific service.
