Q: Peter and Crew,

Yet another question about Amaya (AYA).

I listened to the quarter report and was not impressed. Managemnet seemed to avoid many of the questions and did not provide much information.

My main concern is with the financing they have arranged at 13% plus 4 million options. This seems like a very steep interest rate for a "good" quality company. I trust the bond guys more than the equity people so I am greatly concernied that AYA is a very, very speculative investment. I have seen many other companies that I consider to be speculative with rates much lower than 13%.

Your comments would be appreciated.

Q: Morning Peter and All,

I am planing to establish a position of a lumber stock in my long term holding portfolio. My preferred screening result is WEF:TSX for its low valuation, good geo-location of its reserves, export to Chinese market and reasonable dividend yield. Normally, I can bear 30% price correction for a stock in my long term holding portfolio, provided my buying conditions are still kept well.

Looking for your comments? If my choice is fine, what is your suggestion about the buy prices?

Q: Are we approaching a bear market? Tim Shufelt, in Sunday's Globe and Mail, Quoted Denis Mark of the National Bank, and others, who pointed out that while the indexes might not have fallen off, that is largely because of the movement of money into large cap stocks. The 'average' stock, he said, was down 10-12%-27% on S&P-TSX-NSQ from its highs, depending on the index. He called it a stealth correction, and said it would soon spread to large caps too. Any advise? The TSX has fallen 8 of the last 10 sessions now.

Q: Hello - I would like to swap stocks between my self directed RSP and US cash accounts. To do this, I would like to sell company A in my SDRSP and buy it back in my US account. I would like to sell company B in my US account and buy it back in my SDRSP account. The market value is about the same for both.

My question is about the 30 day rule. Company B would trigger a capital gain so I would have to pay that tax. Since there is no capital loss, does the 30 day rule apply in any way for repurchasing the stock?

Q: Could you please comment on K-Bro's recent results. The Market doesn't appear to be impressed as the stock is off the earlier highs. It's in my RSP and am in mainly for income with longer term growth to the dividend with some capital appreciation. Does this thesis still hold. I am slightly below a full position in my account and am looking to use this weakness as an opportunity to average up.

Q: I play the small cap stocks. Too often I find the price open up the next day down 20% because of refinancing. I will run my ideas by you before making any more buys. They are KLS Kelso and RCL Riley recently both down, QST Questor recent digest pick and NCU Nevada Copper. I also hold Canola CNE. What is your opinion on that? That's four potential buys and one I am holding.
I have to get on a winning streak.

Q: Good afternoon 5I, Re: CBO, laddered bond ETF, Rob Carrick has an article on Globeinvestor saying that the actual yield is only 1.6% and not the 4+% shown on the stock charts. He seems to claim we are being
hoodwinked by just about everyone on the actual returns on these ETF's and that a ladder of GIC's would beat the ETF's hands down. Your opinion on this would be appreciated. Thank you
