Q: I recently held a MLP in my RIFF account, which I sold because there was a 39 percent withholding on the dividend payment, and no way to receive a credit for the foreign tax paid.. Would this also apply to the recently discussed RNF, which is a limited partnership? Do you know if there is any method of determining in advance if there will be tax withheld on dividends paid by a particular security?

Q: hello 5i:
some questions I'd like to ask YOUR SUBSCRIBERS:
- where can you get a service like this for $87/yr?
- where can you get UNBIASED coverage like this for $87/yr?
- where can you get a service like this that doesn't have some hidden agenda ie.company patronage, commission bias, etc.
- where can you find a service that answers questions on holidays, weekends etc?
- where can you find a service with people as experienced as Peter and team, who have been through market cycles and are well-thought of by their peers?
- where can you find a service that is as patient with investor questions as 5i?
In over 25 years of investing, I haven't found one this good, on this many points. Being conservative, I'll see what happens in a down market cycle, but it won't affect any of the questions I asked above, and no, this is not a paid commercial on behalf of 5i: I'm a regular subscriber who thinks they are getting a great service at a bargain price, and wish to say so.

Q: Hello, after investing in stocks for 20 years, some even profitable <chuckling>, I've noticed when most everyone is expecting a scenerio to unfold in a certain fashion, it rarely does. I'm wondering if/when QE is eventually wound down, maybe the price of gold will go up as these events have already been priced in?
Q: Will you please give me your opinion of Canelson [cdi] recommended the other night on BNN. Recent results seem good and the dividend was just increased. Thanks Mike

Q: Hello Peter: I have an almost 6% position in DI.UN, favoring this company because of its exposure to the only country in Europe being run by a relatively sane government. My most recent purchase was during Fridays dip following announcement of another financing. What is your view of this company and should there be any concerns with Dundee International returning to the financing well so soon after its previous visit? Thank you and kind regards.
Q: A friend sent me an article from the Wall St Journal about some large US investors shorting Canadian banks. We have positions in all the major Canadian banks except NA. We like the dividends, but is there a danger of a big drop in price?
Q: I have been pondering on Xerox for quite a while now? What do you think? I do know a couple of service men who fix the copiers and such- and they are older type gents- not quite asleep at the wheel but?? However their billings are cleaned up quite a bit over the past couple of years- they seem to be getting things figured out again.

Q: Rifco appears to be in same business as CFN, but in the segment that competes directly with the banks. It appears to be much smaller, less liquid and far more expensive. Obviously since its smaller it can grow much more quickly but competing head to head with TD and Scotia doesn't seem very lucrative. Am I missing something?
