Q: Which would you buy today: CSU or ESL?

I currently own both, with my CSU holdings 2X the size of my ESL holdings. I also own OTC and GIB.A, both slightly less than ESL holdings. I am leaning towards CSU or ESL, but you could sway me to add to OTC or GIB.A.

Which one would you buy today for a TFSA? Or should I wait another month or two for the volatility to settle down?

Q: The only tech stock I hold at present is DH. I am considering adding OTC and GIB.A. Would these three stocks complement each other, or would you suggest an alternative grouping? Thank you.

Q: I hold XIT in both my RRSP and Cash accounts as my tech exposure, which is roughly 10%. 77% of the ETF is made up of 5 stocks = CGI-24%, CSU-21%, OTC-15%, BB-11% and DH-6%. It has performed reasonably well, even beating out it's USA cousin XLK (7.8% vs 1.3% total return over the last year).

I am reasonably positive on CGI, OTC and DH, neutral on BB and thought quite highly of CSU until recently. It appears to be rolling over. I suspect it might be some profit taking due to these ugly markets.

Is XIT still a reasonable holding for tech exposure? It really comes down to CGI and CSU, in my opinion...thanks for your guidance.

Q: Intrinsyc released 2015 preliminary results this morning and the fourth quarter looked outstanding. Since they changed their business model 2 years ago they have been consistently EBITDA positive and now revenues and EBITDA are growing rapidly. Other than risks of still being small, ITC is in a fast growing tech space. Is the market going to start picking up on this as the stock looks inexpensive still.

Q: Hello,

SWKS has been a top pick over the last two months twice by Bruce Tatters on BNN. Unfortunately, I own this stock and it continues to escalate on the down side. I get bits of negative information from my Itrade account about it. However, you will know a lot more about it than I do. Should I take my losses?

Q: My son is starting to build is TFSA portfolio but, as yet, owns no technology stock. Which technology stock would you recommend for a hold of at least 1 year (who knows when he will need the money)? Any of the above or something different. Since he is not an experienced investor, stability is a consideration. Thank you and HNY to your whole team (it is a self-serving wish: if your year is good, it is likely to benefit all of your members)

Q: We have done well with Enghouse - I company I would never have heard of without 5i. Thank you.
Our weighting in Enghouse has reached 8.3%. This is due to ESL's stock price increase plus the declines in Energy, Materials, Financial & Utility sectors. Is it time to reduce ESL's weighting to 7% or not sell and hope for a recovery in the other sectors? If I were to sell I would probably increase our weighting in MDA to 5% or open a 2% weighting in XTC or KXS.

Q: Hello Peter and 5i team members,

I have CGI group in my portfolio representing about 4% of my RRSP account. Now I would like to add 1 or 2 names in IT sector to bring up my sector weighting to about 10 to 15%. Could you please provide some recommendations for a long time holding (say 5 to 10 years)? Thanks.

Wish you and every one of your team a very merry Christmas and a happy new year!
