Q: Hi Peter and 5i team, A while ago, you answered a question on gold. I am very much in agreement with your reasons for holding gold and also what to hold. However, you likened gold to insurance and suggested to have some always. That suggests a permanent typa deal. For long periods (20-25 years stretches), gold could be a drag on the portfolio. I intend to get out of it once the threat of banking collapse, hyperinflation/currency-debasement and turmoil in global money system all subside. Are we so different on this point?
Q: Microsoft had a free stock tracking site a few years ago but unfortunately dicontinued it. It provided all key metrics, inside buying, charts, % gains, etc, etc, and was so superior to anything I have found since. Do you or your readership have any recommendations?
Q: Ric Richmont continues to drop in price. Is there any news that is affecting the stock negatively? I own shares at much higher prices in my RSP. Should I be selling or buying more. Thanks for ongoing excelent advice.
Q: Hi Peter: the hotlink you provided in the recent commentary The Search For High Dividends And Growth did not work.
Q: In response to Jim's Question on November 27, 2012 he may wish to Google for Canadian Dividend Aristocrats and/or Canadian Dividend Achievers. There should be quite allot of information available including, although not limited to, some information from Standard & Poors.

Q: Peter,
Any recommendations on a U.S. bank or financial? I currently have no financial names in my RRSP and a shortage of U.S. exposure.

Q: Hi 5i
I have some spare U.S. cash and was considering buying GRW, FRED or STT. Which one would consider to be the best choice. Thanks for your usual opinion.

Q: Peter; Would you add to a position in GRT after it's quick drop this AM? Thanks. Rod
Q: Hi Peter and team,
Great job as usual. I was thinking of adding a pipeline to my portfolio. What do you think of Pembina Pipeline[PPL-T]. It has a nice yield and I was wondering if you think there will be some growth . thanks

Q: Would appreciate your thoughts on ERF for the next 6 to 12 months. Also the service you offer is wonderful. Have a MERRY CHRISTMAS Keith
Q: what would happen to a reit if they said "we are going to stop issuing equity and stop acquiring new properties for the foreseeable future (2,3,4 5 years?). our plan is to now slowly grow our cash flows by paying down debt and existing mortgages".
I'm not opposed reits issuing equity to purchase properties and pursue growth through acquisition. however, I've always wondered if a reit would ever make the decision to simply focus on paying down existing mortgages rather than continually grow through acquisition.
thanks again for your help.

Q: Hi Peter & 5i: Just a follow up on my last question on oil. I like getting income + growth from oil producers so I'm happy to see RPL and WCP added to TBE and LNV in the small producer income space. But if the expectation is that there may be oil price weakness for a quarter or two sometime in the next year or two, I'm wondering how these will do relative to each other, but also relative to larger oil income names like CPG and BTE. If I want to maintain some exposure to this oil income space, which ones might be best able to withstand lower oil prices the longest and be most able to continue their dividend payments in a rocky commodity environment. The oil market may be more global than the natural gas market, but Canadian oil producers don't get WTI, let alone Brent. If there is more oil coming from US soil, I'm concerned that Canadian producers may suffer a more punitive spread from WTI. Thanks again!
Q: Peter...do these guys trak as interest income? SRV.UN ax.un INN.UN PAR.UN TR.UN Is that their only difference to basic dividend paying stocks? any cons here?

Q: Hi Peter,
Have your views changed on WND after the bid from BEP.UN? Would 2.5 be a new floor or it still poses a lot of downside risk from this point.

Q: BCE
Hello. As a shareholder of BCE, I would like to know your thoughts on how the abcense of NHL play may affect the stock price and the behavior of institutional share holders(the larger holders of the stock). Thanks for all you offer.

Q: PWT: I understand the advice to wait and see a turnaround before buying in but what would you read into insider buying @10.50 to 11 during Nov? Same is true with insiders at PGF. Could they just be looking for a seasonal "dead cat bounce" in the stock prices or perhaps they know something the rest of us don't. Thanks, Jeff
Q: Just wondered what you & team think of my diversifying some by purchasing a say 27 month debenture paying 6% plus. I have a number of your listed basket of A & B rated holdings, (not more than 5% in each) & thought that I may put say a 3% holding in UUU.DB.A ? Or should I rather add to AW.UN or ATP, or BAD, BPF.UN, BYD.UN, BEP.UN, CUS, CFN, CSU, FCR, LIQ, or PKI, to bring a few of them up to say 5% ?
Thanks in anticipation,
Best wishes for X-Mas,
Paul Newton.
