Q: Given that they had been put into the penalty box because of past transgressions with account openings, I had a thesis that WFC would benefit significantly from the Trump administration plan to deregulate. Unfortunately, my timing was off, the shares had already increased and dropped after I invested. At this point I wonder if I should abandon my thesis and move to another financial holding. In your view, would GS be a better investment? And why? Alternatively, although Regional banks were hit hard in the past, FITB seems to be favourably viewed; would that be better than WFC or GS? And if so, why? This is in a TFSA and looking for growth, not income. Many thanks for your excellent service.

Q: Greetings. Are there any attractive US dividend-paying stocks (3.5%+) that currently appear on your radar? I'm looking for an alternative to US$ GICS or fixed income. Thanks.

Q: Thoughts on FITB quarter. Do you like this stock for income and growth for a 3 year hold? Is it a possible takeover candidate for the bigger banks?
Thanks

Q: When the initial shock at SVB happened, I traded First Republic shares and made enough profits to buy a long position when the shares went into the 12's. I don't believe that the US Govt. will allow these "small" banks to fail. Ex: FRC has over 7000 employees.
Are there any other US "small" banks that you screen that have been hammered but have a good prospect of surviving and flourishing? I have a very high risk tolerance.
Thank you Gordo

Q: Jerry Javasky, former manager of the formerly very successful (I have no idea of its current status) Ivy Foreign Equity fund, was a “fan” of FITB. Does the recent dramatic selloff make it the screaming “buy” for dividend investors I perceive it to be?

Q: Andrew McCreath had a banker on his Friday show that made a good case for buy outs coming this year in US banking industry just not the very large banks. The large banks would not be allowed to merge/takeover more banks because of regulatory concerns.
Could you meanttion some of the stronger mid size US banks that would be good candidates for take over and their related dividend as he mentioned that big dividend increases are on the way.
Mike
