Q: Why is this stock so cheap? Economic pessimism? STLC just bought back ~7.5% of the shares outstanding and still have ~700M net cash. Would like to hear your thoughts on the company and whether this is a good buy for a long term investor here at $33 (despite it being a generally cyclical industry). Thanks.

Q: Hello, why are iron and steel companies selling so cheaply? P/e of 1.43? Are these good buys. Would you please recommend any quality company in any sector which you think is great bargain. Thanks. Shyam
Q: They just monetized a large land holding. Do you know if there has been any talk of a special dividend? It looks like they will have close to $20 in cash after this sale. That is almost half it's share price.
Q: What causes the stock to go down 3.00$ one day and up 3.plus the next day -seems unusual
Q: Dear 5i
I was thinking it might be a good idea to invest some cash in the wheat and steel sectors given their expected rise over the next year or so .
Perhaps RS for steel and maybe BG for wheat . Would you agree with these two selections or would you recommend something else ?
Thanks
Bill C

Q: Read your answer to Ken's question dated Feb 25, 2022 to STLC question. You answered "..with the pricing discrepancy on the basis of hedging through the use of futures, management noted significantly lower prices for steel, which will dampen revenues." Looking at the charts for US steel companies: where NUE and RS hit new highs and X rose 10.45% on Friday. I would have thought this price action would also be reflected in Canadian steel companies (ie: STLC, RUS) based on "A tide rises all boats" theory. However this was not the case on Friday. Is hedging and/or steel tariffs the reason? Or maybe something else? Thank you your insight.
Q: I hold a full position in Stelco. Could you comment on their earnings and outlook? Thanks.
Q: Looking for a few ideas of beaten up 3% or more dividend payers? I already own SLF, WCP, and ZEB. Current portfolio holdings are made up 19% energy, 35% tech, 15% financial services, 20% consumer cyclicals, less than 5% in the rest. Not too worried about divirsification, I sleep well even when blood is running in the streets.
Q: Please comment on Stelco news. Would you hold?
Q: What is your take on Stelco buying a 40% stake in football and soccer in Hamilton? The CEO has been a part owner of another team and has been CEO and/or on the board of a variety of other companies.
Is this likely to be a benefit to Stelco shareholders or would any benefit require selling the sports teams?

Q: Last week Stelco announced a licensing agreement / partnership with a company called Primobius to enter the Electric Vehicle Battery recycling space. Sounds forward - looking and in the emerging green energy theme , but I have no ability to assess the immediate and longer term implications for the company.
Your insight would be appreciated .
Thank-you.

Q: Stelco today announced a Dutch auction for approx 10% of its shares . The price would be between 31 and 37 dollars. The price today is around 39.

Q: I'm in the process of rebuilding my portfolio for 2022. It would be helpful if you could share with me a list of both Canadian and American companies that meet the following criteria:
1. They are some of your favourite companies from a fundamental perspective
2. They are currently buying back their own shares.
3. They offer a decent dividend.
4. They run businesses that offer good growth prospects for next year.
5. They currently offer good value.
6. These companies are so solid they would classify as 'core ' holdings.
At least six companies in each list would be appreciated.
Finally, I would like to express my gratitude for the support and ideas you have shared this past year. Definitely one of the best advisory services available to Canadians,
