Q: Hi. I'm not too happy with the financing deal Detour (DGC) did today, so I'll probably sell this week. Either they needed a lot of money to finance a significant problem quickly (red flag) or management lost their minds (bigger red flag)!
To replace it, I'm considering Premier Gold (PG), McEwen Mining (MUX) or Sandstorm (SSL); or maybe a small silver - Scorpio Mining (SPM). What are your thoughts...thanks again!!
Q: Hi Peter,Pacific Rubiales(PRE) have had good operating results in addition to good news lately. The stocks however has been weak. Would you care to share your views? Thank You
Q: Hi Peter and team,
I have some questions about the Model Portfolio... Is the implication that you recommend each of the stocks until we are told otherwise? (So I would be encouraged to purchase all 20 of them today, regardless of how the market is doing?)
Also, I note that you have not reported on 9 of the 20 stocks within this Model. Why is that so?
And, for an unrelated question, how do I find out how frequently (annually, quarterly, monthly) a particular stock pays its dividend?
Thanks in advance for your response. I love this service!!!
I don't understand why mortgage REITS such as ARR, AGNC and the like are doing so poorly stock price wise. Is it not better for these companies if the Fed is going buy fewer bonds as the American economy improves? Does this Fed withdrawal not give them a better spread between what they borrow at and what they can buy mortgages for?
Regards,
Max
I got caught up in all the hype about rare earths and purchased Great Western Minerals Group (GWG). It has definitely not done well - is there any hope for this stock or should i get out.
Q: I am a long term investor looking for div growth with some capital appreciation. I took a position a few years ago in ZWU for the high yield. The yield has been decreasing and price is range bound. It is now at the high end of the range and am considering selling and taking a position in INE which looks to have some good growth (both capital and Div) in its future with new projects in the works. Your thoughts!
Q: CCT (catamaran) confirmed their 2013 guidance on their last recent report. There is,however, a major contract with HealthSpring (recently acquired by Cigna) that is a question mark. The contract is up at the end of the year and renewal (or not) hasn't been confirmed, although I have read that Cigna is expected to make a decision around June. CCT did not comment on this issue when reporting. In your experience, would CCT management have a good idea at this point as to which way Cigna were leaning ? Is it reasonable to assume that at this stage, because CCT seems to be comfortable confirming guidance without any qualifiers that the contract is likely to be renewed ? Also, at the moment, I hold CCT - is there any option strategy that would make sense to handle a future announcement - either renewal or non-renewal.
