Q: I have a couple of stocks which have effectively gone to $0 a couple of years ago. But, I'm not sure why they're still listed in my margin account, if they're worthless.

My broker is offering a service where I can donate the shares to them, and then officially declare a tax loss. I'm thinking of taking them up on this offer, but I want your opinion, just in case either of these stocks still has some life left in it (or if I'm not understanding the $0 valuation properly). For example, the assets of Bellatrix Exploration (oil and gas) were taken over by another company. I assume this was some kind of bankruptcy sale.

Is it safe to say that with a reasonable probability that the shares of both Bellatrix and Distinct Infrastructure are effectively worthless?

Q: Peter and His Wonder Team
I had a significant position with BXE. Of course with there ...I think you call it "reverse split"...I was almost wiped out.
Trading was halted for a few weeks and now they are not listed at all. Can you provide any information about the status of this company and if share holds have any value left? Thanks!

Q: Expert pinions are strongly divided about BXE, it is cheap and should go up significantly or debt is too high and could go bankrupt. Today (Jan 24th) volume was unusually high with the share price increasing. Is it possible to find out if that was just short covering or fresh buying that might suggest some new development.

Thank for your superb service, Peter

Q: Can you tell me what prices (Cdn$/mcf) Bellatrix received for their natural gas in the previous 4 quarters? Can you also tell me what their avarage production cost was (Cdn$/mcf) as well?

The reason I ask this is because as of November 26, 2018 Bellatrix has locked in fixed prices in December 2018 (approximately 30% of natural gas volumes based on current annual 2018 production guidance at a Canadian equivalent price of approximately $4.33/Mcf) and the first quarter of 2019 (approximately 20% of natural gas volumes at a Canadian equivalent price of approximately $4.20/Mcf). Unless I'm missing something these prices seem to me like they are substantial higher than the norm of the past few years?

Thank you, Shane

Q: Which of these companies would you buy? All seem heavily discounted.

Q: I thought that Bellatrix was making the right moves to return to financial health - and that may be true, But this year the first quarter shows a loss of $12.9M compared with a profit of $13M in 2017. While this was partly due to lower commodity prices, the company says "The decrease in net profit period over period is primarily due to a decrease in the unrealized gain on commodity contracts (. . . )". If I have an unrealized gain on stocks I own it is because I haven't sold them yet. But what is an unrealized gain on commodity contracts ? Is this just a paper loss or a real loss that investors should worry about ?

Q: I am holding these 4 B’s...some up, some down...seems like a good time to hold energy stocks. What is your take on these companies?

Q: Peter and His Wonder Team
Please give your current assessment of BXE. It has crashed since the 5 for 1 consolidation and also hit with tax loss selling. Would you rate this a hold because it may be over sold or just sell and take the loss even though it does not qualify as a tax loss. On the other hand would it be a reasonable contrarian play going into 2018 with more optimism concerning global growth?
