Q: I read an article this morning about retailers being urged to increase their cyber security. What technology companies would best benefit from this increase in security spending? Thanks.
Q: Gold stocks currently account for slightly less than 2% of my stocks and cash. Of the golds, GoldCorp (G) is ~50%, Virginia (VGQ) is ~25%, Kinross (K), Scorpio (SGN) and Barrick (ABX) make up the remainder. I am thinking of selling K and ABX and buying B2Gold (BTO) and possibly some Alamos and Argonaut (AR). Does this make sense to you? If not can you provide some alternate ideas? You can see I am not making changes to SGN. Is this wise? Also do you think that 2% gold exposure is too low for maximum portfolio returns over the next couple of years? Thank you. I appreciate and value your comments.
Q: Hi Peter,
I believe your have mentioned in the past that the traditional approach to portfolio balancing as you age (ie, moving away from higher risk equities to lower risk fixed income) is questionable and that research shows holding a higher portion of equities much later in your life is a better approach.
Can you point me to articles or other sources of research that support that theme. I am a member of Canadian Moneysaver, if that is helpful.
Thanks for a great service.

Q: I bought Ten Peaks a few years ago mainly for its dividend yield. Recently the market has priced it up. TPK appears to have a few good items in it favour: Growing Margins, growing business volumes an attractive dividend yield and now a declining $CAD (many costs are Canadian & much of its revenue is $US based). I've cash out a little. But it stills yields a little over 6% and has positive momentum. Would you cash out now or hang on for more gains?
Q: Trevali mining corp TV , Please your opinion on continuing to hold this stock, any forecast would be welcome. My information is that Zinc will be in nigher demand as other suppliers are stopping production. Do you have a report for this company. Thank-you
Q: I would appreciate your opinion of HIU and HIX as a means of hedging. Are they a "trader's" tool that should not be held for long periods?
Q: Are you in favour of etf s What about zeb instead of trying to
pick one bank.
pick one bank.
Q: Please give me your latest thoughts on Glentel GLN
Q: On TMB (Tembec), it fell from $3.35 to support at the 200 day moving average of 2.77 or so. What is your view on this company? This is the strong time of year for the forestry companies, so why the weakness? Is it due to the financial results they announced last week? Thanks for your help with this stock.
Q: Could you recommend a few ETFs that employ fundamental indexing for international (non US) exposure and for emerging market exposure. Funds in Canadian dollars would be preferred, but this is not a prerequisite.
Thank you for your assistance.

Q: For the last 2 yr my open portfolio has both NRI and I for pharmaceutical. NRI recently got FDA approval for 1 of their drugs and has dropped from 5.73 to today closing at $3.00. IntelliPharmaCutecals (I) has gotten all approvals and is making money with their generic drugs and while it had a good bump in November has fallen back recently. Any thoughts on whether I should continue to hold these or move on to something else?
Q: What are your thoughts on Cameco after almost 10% decline on the sale of Bruce Power
Q: As a new member I have looked at your model portfolio and am wondering if the 20 stocks are still applicable for someone to start with today.
OR are stocks like CSU and VRX fully valued with the 100% plus returns that they have yielded.
I realize that you do re balance the portfolio from time to time but is this a good starting point?
Thanks!

It seems to me that Cineplex would be negatively impacted by a weaker Cdn $.....revenue in Cdn and the costs of securing content (presumably) in US......as a result, a hit to forecast Q1 results......am I on track with this thinking?
