Q: I am an investor in my mid seventies. In the past I have been able to purchase new issue convertible debentures for 5 yr, paying on average 5.5%. Unfortunately this market has dried up. Several of my debentures have come due and as a result I now hold a large amount of cash. Can you suggest 5 or 6 blue chip stocks that pay dividends in the 5% range? Should I hold my cash and wait for a correction or begin buying now? Thank you for your opinion.

Q: Lorillard & Reynolds American (LO, RAI) are in a potential merger although by no means certain due to regulatory risks. With good cash flows and dividends would you feel either is of interest now or if the deal doesn't close?

Q: Just to clarify, David's question to you on BAD is correct! O'Connell on BNN commented on Badger's (just reported) earnings the evening of August 11th (Monday evening). Sedar and other sources including the TSX released the results this morning, Wednesday. I realize your not a regulator, nor a shareholder but how could this occur? Very disturbing for me as a shareholder but I'll still continue to hold for growth.Thanks for your great service.
