Q: Hi 5i team,
It seems the IPO market is in a frenzy these days, with DASH and ABNB, in particular. I always enjoy reading Professor Damodaron, as per your recent blog, and his musings on ABNB. He views fair value at $36B. The IPO was priced at $68, resulting in an initial company value of $47 billion. It opened around $145, about 3 times the Professor’s view of fair value.
Some market analysts view these IPOs as a market top, a view I don’t share. I just think people are crazy to pay these prices to get a pizza delivered to your door.
Thanks again for your thoughts on this frenzy and what it means for the markets, if anything.
Dave
Q: Good afternoon, 3 questions...
Could you please give me your thoughts (after one public quarter) on Jfrog for a long term hold for growth?
There are lots of great new companies out there and only 1 public quarter for them. How would you rank the top ten “tech” stocks that had a IPO in 2020?
Your new USA fund forgive me if this is elsewhere but does this affect your answers or ability to answer any USA stock questions or does it not impact the current/past services? As I find your USA recommendations to be extremely valuable as a Canadian investor.
Q: Good Morning
You have mentioned the interest in the IPO for AFFIRM will be high. Is there service being copied by others in the space( you have mentioned PYPL) and do they have any discernible advantage.
Thank you
Q: I am bullish on both Air BnB and Affirm. What are your latest thoughts on both companies? What would your approach be for both IPOs once listed. Buy partial position on day one and follow once price settles?
Q: Stem Inc, an AI driven energy storage company, is going public via a merger with a Star Peak- a special purpose acquisition company (SPAC). Any thoughts on STEM? What do you think about the STPK warrants?
Thanks
Q: Hello 5i
I know you are generally cautious on IPOs but I would love to hear your thoughts on this one. The technology sounds very promising.
Thank you
Dave
Q: Hi, With recent more companies use SPAC IPO, I wonder how can I know if a company was SPAC IPOed or traditionally IPOed in late days, say 3 month after the IPO? Was PLTR IPOed in that way? Also related, where to find SPAC companies lists? Thanks,
Q: Hi, what do you think about this news about Microsoft Cloud Provider AvePoint Going Public Via Apex Technology SPAC ? It a SAAS provider for Microsoft 365 customers and it has plans to grow 25% or more and it have EBIT margins of 10%. I did not understand the symbols, it will start with AXPT and after it will change to AVPT ?
