Q: Gold represents a small portion of my portfolio with only 2 holdings – Anglo Eagle Mines (AEM) and Yamana (YRI). I just sold my Yamana to take advantage of the recent bull run in gold which even 5i has stated is getting a bit “long in the tooth”. AEM seems to be your favorite which I plan to keep, but I was looking to swap Yamana for a better name that’s higher on your list either now or on a future dip. What would be your second pick after AEM in the gold space? I’m looking for a mid or large cap that has reasonable leverage to gold but still a strong balance sheet to reasonably withstand any future drops in the price of gold. As an aside, for a person holding only two names would you recommend that one of them be an ETF for instant diversification? or even a bullion fund if perhaps the recent run has put the rise in the miners too far above the bullion price?
Q: I have a question about XGD. I believe you like this fund and I've been keeping an eye on it, with a view to purchase. It keeps going up and I haven't had to guts to purchase. I have this feeling that once I purchase it, the downward trend begins! What is your view of the current price and when the party might stop?
Q: I just read your blog of June 11th on lithium and I cannot find Rockwood Holdings you are talking about. Is it a public company ?
What do you think of Albermarle (alb)relative to FMC ? Do you see any good alternative at this time ?
Q: I noted your reply today about gold going forward with reference to a BTO question. ie; " 4Q is usually in fact better for gold stocks. BTO we like as a company, but the gold rally we think may be getting a bit long in the tooth. With no inflation and the US dollar looking better...".
Does the same apply to a gold company like Roxgold with it's recent start up of the Yaramoko gold mine? It has had a good run. Would you reccommend to hold or sell a bit?
Thanks 5i
Q: Whats you outlook on gold in general. Held this for years through some big ups and downs and thinking of getting out with the recent Brexit price bump. Wondering however with seasonality supposedly turning positive over the next few months whether to hang on a little longer.
Q: Hi folks:
I like keeping my gold investing in Canada. Integra's recent drilling results look good. Insiders seem to be buying stock. Do you have any info on Integra?
Q: Hi 5i. I just read an article at pbs.org about the growing monetary bubble and its eventual unwinding which is supposedly inevitable given the unprecedented level of money creation in the world that is going on. What is your take on the subject? Do you agree that a day of reckoning is inevitable, and what would it look like? Doesn't Econ 101 say we should be seeing escalating inflation if this is the case? What would be the best defence to protect savings in a bad scenario?
Q: This stock nosedived yesterday b/c the 1100 ct
diamond failed to sell above min. bid price.
Does this change the appeal of the company by investors and your opinion of the company
[Was the big drop overdone]
thank you.
Q: Vista Gold has more than tripled in less than a month. Any idea why it is doing so much better than the average gold stock ? It is in my portfolio, but at a higher purchase price($3.70). Time to buy or sell ?
Thanks in advance for your help.
Q: With Gold doing so well right now, can you explain the sharp drop in share price for XAU over the last week. Is it worth holding or if I want more "Gold" should I sell XAU and pick another gold stock at the appropriate time?
Q: I own some of Sherritt bonds that matures in 2018. Would you agree that the probability of this proposal to succeed is very high? What does this mean to the chances of the company survival? Would you recommend taking the consent incentive in money or in warrants? Would it advisable to add to my holding of this bond? My holding is insignificant as a percentage of my total portfolio. Are bondholders entitled to receive the maturity value on maturity date, or would that force the company to file for protection because it might not be able to meet their obligation?
Q: I note that TD Securities have today recommended Teck Resources as a Buy at $15.32. The 12 month target price is $17.00 and the stock is rated as "High Risk". With all respect, it's difficult to feel comfortable with this type of recommendation.
Am I missing something?
